Gidey looked to have it wrapped up but then looked over her shoulder about 5 times before collapsing right as Chebet came by.
Chebet gets the win, Gidey will be DQd because her coach picked her up.
We've never seen anything like this.

Senayet Getachew (who is a 1:08 half marathoner) got the win as Ethiopia went 1-2 and got the team title with 15 points.
Kenya got silver as the Kenyans and Ethiopians swept the top 9 spots.
The big surprise was Ellie Shea of the US, who was second at Champs (Foot Lockers) finishing 10th. Irene Riggs, the US champs was 12th, and Karrie Baloga 13th and Zariel Macchia 19th as the American women got on the podium for the 1st time ever.

I'm really excited to see what Emmanuel Wanyonyi does on the track this season. For an 800m athlete to run XC so well, surely the 1500m may turn out to be his best distance?

Kenya team on paper wasn't the strongest but they got it done.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi is best known for being an 800 runner. He ran well on 1st leg to hand off just behind leader (surprise that it was South Africa).
Jess Hull ran a great leg for Australia to give them the lead after leg 2 (she was 6 seconds back at hand off and handed off in 1st by 5 seconds). Kenya's 2nd leg was Mirriam Cherop who has only run 4:10 for 1500.
Kyumbe Munguti who is only a 3:36 1500m had the leg of the day for Kenya. He put 13 seconds on Stewy McSweyn of Australia to get Kenya an 8 second lead for the anchor.
Kenya had Brenda Chebet (4:04 1500m , World Under 20 1500m silver last year) and she brought it home.
