The world record holder won his third straight 10,000m title at Worlds as he held off a challenge from Olympic champ Selemon Barega on the final lap.

The main obstacles standing between Cheptegei and a 3-peat are Olympic champ Selemon Barega and 12:40 5k man Berihu Aregawi. Can Woody Kincaid medal?

Nur was great over the last 1k as Woody Kincaid's big kick was nowhere to be seen and Grant Fisher was a DNS. The women's 5000 was a carbon copy of the 10,000 with Cranny a dominant winner.

Between Grant Fisher, Paul Chelimo, Woody Kincaid, Joe Klecker, and Abdihamid Nur, there is a lot of talent in these fields which means someone very good could be left off the team.

Fisher ran a 13:10 2nd half and came from behind in the final 200 to edge Mo Ahmed (26:34.14) for the win.

Sean McGorty almost lost a shoe but didn't panic and advanced while Chris Nilsen pulled off another upset in the pole vault and Will Claye was clutch in the triple jump.

The fastest two Americans in history Evan Jager and Stanley Kebenei have both scratched and Andy Bayer (#7 all time) is retired. That leaves Diamond League Hillary Bor as the favorite, but there is certainly space for the likes of Isaac Updike and Mason Ferlic who have both beaten Bor this year or newcomer Sean McGorty to make their first US team. And Benard Keter just beat McGorty.

Suguru Osako destroyed Galen Rupp over the final 400 of the 10,000 and then became a legend by running the B heat of the 10,000 immediately afterward.  In the steeples, Courtney Frerichs looked great in her second steeple of the year while Sean McGorty did not take a step forward.

If you want to win NCAAs as a team, you'd better run well this weekend. Every single year for the last 15 years, the eventual men's NCAA champion has won on this weekend. The race of the week is the men's race at Wisconsin as it includes the top three teams in the country (Northern Arizona, Syracuse and BYU) and a great individual battle between NAU's Futsum Zienasellassie, Syracuse's Justyn Knight and Stanford's Sean McGorty.

Cheserek looked rough in April and early May but flashed his old form at regionals. Can NAU's 27:52 man Futsum Zienasellassie challenge him in the 10k? What about Virginia Tech's Thomas Curtin, Stanford's Sean McGorty, Villanova's Patrick Tiernan or Syracuse's Justyn Knight in the 5k?
