Yup. And the poster, get a real man, will have to find another "man" to root for.

Ventolin uses formulas heavily. But I know the difference between precision and accuracy. A mathematical conversion of 1.08x is very precise without necessarily being all that accurate. The mile is contested at the height of the European season on numerous occasions every year with very few athletes going anywhere close to their 1.08x conversions from 1500m. It's not only that they run more 1500's. There's a different mindset between the two events; the pacers leave you more to do on your own; 800m/1500m guys sometimes are less able to handle the extra distance.
The mile is certainly not contested on numerous occasions at the height of the European season.
Webb went to a small meet in Belgium and loaded the field with his own pacemakers, including one to run right behind him as long as he could.
Elites run a mile race once a season in Europe at most, usually.
The Pre mile is a good chance to run fast too.
1.08 is a good indicator of what you should be able to do in the same conditions.
Everyone is so obsessed with times. More important is place: 10th. Sure better than any other american could do in this race, but nothing to jump up and down about.
It was a well beaten 10th as well. Even taking out Kiprop.
He's dangerous in a slow race. No so much in a fast race. Lucky for him that most championship races are slow. It just shows he has a long way to go if he wants to be great. He's good. Even very, very good, but not great.

.
Place is not more important than time.
Idk why people are hatin' on centro....he's bangin Laura Roesler, at the end of the day he's still a winner. It's probably tight too
If you think the mile isn't contested numerous times in Europe (as well as at Pre) every year, then check out this list, where the names Rome, Rieti, Nice, Oslo, Zurich, London, Berlin, and even Helsinki appear, in addition to the aforementioned Brasschaat. Granted that some of these are irregular, you still have London, Birmingham, Pre, and Oslo every year in the height of the season, meaning that at least 4 out of the 14 DL meets alone have the mile.
In the past, New York has had it as well (see Webb/Lagat duel in 2007). There is also the opportunity at any number of smaller meets, and top athletes have often had the privilege of requesting and getting a mile at a meet if they want it.
