Conditions look pretty rough, should be a good race. It'll be nice having Paula Radcliffe on a motorbike!

They're picking it up -- that's why Goucher and Linden fell off. Lead pack is down to 9, led by Valeria Straneo. They're down to a 2:26:52 projected finish.
and we're back to BS with no split-screen.
Meb = Two Horses.

Will there be a quiz later on this anatomy lesson?
Ugh.
Anyone notice that the calculated pace on the leader board is way off? Not only is it wrong, it shows a different per-mile pace for guys with the same split time.
This is amazing. I'm not even mad any more. It's like a performance art piece-- an effort to piss off every single viewer who might care at all about elite running.
It would be like if the Tour de France coverage ignored the big climbs so they could show the hobby cyclists who ride the course the previous day. And then cut away for four minutes to explain what a bicycle is.
Does anyone have a Eurosport link- if I have to watch another Nissan commercial again I might have a seizure.
I want to watch the race!!! wrote:

Yes.
461 football fields!
1400 joules!
23,000 strides!
0.17 seconds of foot contact!
75% airborne!
5.85 feet propulsion!
70% cadence of Usain Bolt!
Silly marathon watcher. Forget about the race. It's all about talking about the race, not the actually race.
Someone posted this link earlier, and it's much better, so I'm re-posting (thanks!). Lower quality, but focusing on the race all the time:
I think Deena "working " pace could hold out at about 5:48 ish...which I think is about 2:32's. though she is eager and wants to race...maybe just maybe she'll pull out a sub 2:30. 5:40's for a 2:29. Depends on how strong she is physically.
But time is not of the essence right now...place...runners are going to reserve as much grit as they can for the latter part of the race...going through the last few miles is going to be difficult...though a lot of spectators will be on hand, that will help. It'll take a strong runner to scoop up the places.

Linden has fought her way back. She's only 3 seconds off the leader now. Goucher 5 secs back of Linden.
Since ESPN has Monday Night Football, perhaps they should cover the games in the same way. 10 seconds of gametime then cut away to discuss what a football is, the history of the teams/stadium, biomechanics of the athletes, etc.
Watch how quickly people stop giving a darn about football.
