Norway’s Olympic champions were the stars of the show on Thursday. Ingebrigtsen (3:29.74) used a dive at the line to beat Timothy Cheruiyot (3:29.77) but Warholm (46.70) was not as fortunate and lost to a great run from Alison dos Santos (46.63 WL).

The meet produced 7 world leads including a world record. Ryan Crouser led the way with another WR in the men’s shot put (23.56). World leads also came in the women’s shot (Maggie Ewen 20.45), men’s pole vault (Mondo Duplantis 5.91), women’s 100h (Jasmine Camacho-Quinn 12.31), women’s 1500 (Diribe Welteji 3:57.84), men’s 1500 (Timothy Cheruiyot 3:31.47), and women’s 400 (Marileidy Paulino 48.98).

Some fairly big names struggled, one fell, and Yared Nuguse did not start.

Cheruiyot looked like his old self by winning in Monaco for the fourth straight year, while Amos clocked a world-leading 1:42.91 in the 800. Lamecha Girma also ran a world leader in the steeple (8:07.75) despite kicking a lap early.

Kipyegon used a huge negative split (60.8/57.4) to impressively win the 800, Cheruiyot won his 11th straight 1500/mile, and there were also wins for Michael Norman, Rai Benjamin, and Kenny Bednarek.

The very strange 2020 track season is almost over as the 2020 DL season concludes Friday in Doha with some interesting distance races. For example, Doha will feature the three best men's steeplers from 2019, but they are all in the 1500. 1500 stars Faith Kipegon and Timothy Cheruiyot will both run the 800. The women's 3,000 is totally loaded with five 2019 World medalists, led by Hellen Obiri.

Karsten Warholm scared the 400m hurdle world record as part of a historic 400 hurdles/400 flat double and Donavan Brazier and Timothy Cheruiyot continued their winning ways as the 2020 Diamond League season continued at the BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm on Sunday.
