Yeah, I agree. Huddle may win Hasay in NY this year (if they run), but Hasay is much younger and can improve much more. Not sure about sub 2:20 though. That still remains as a big barrier for women.

you forgot the one we are talking about here, the marathon, Jordon one win!
You forgot they have never raced a marathon against each other and neither has won a marathon.
Huddle wont run New York... why would she? She already debuted there... no need/reason to go back. IF she does another marathon this year... and that's a huge IF... I think she does Chicago and destroys 2:20 and gets top 5.
Huddle actually has a far larger capacity to improve in the marathon than Hasay. If the latter runs 2:20 some day, which will be hard with her lack of 5k/10k speed but possible on a flat course on a cool day in Europe, that would be a 2-3 minute pr, while Huddle ran 2:28 on a slow day in New York and can improve up to ten minutes, based on her 10k time, and is very, very likely to improve more than five minutes (i.e. more than Hasay can possibly improve). Huddle is a great racer, proven on many occasions up through half marathon, and will surely run 2:20-21 at least.

If you going to comment read the background and understand the posts idiot.
My comment had nothing to do with winning anything and them running against each other. There was a side by side comparison of times over all distances with the exception of not showing the marathon.

The womens record for Boston is about 4 minutes faster then New York. I don't believe Molly would have been a mile behind. It could have been close.
Come on. English isn't that hard.
Wait....
Jordan already ran 5 mins faster on a hot day in Boston, she's pretty damn good right now! How can Molly have a far greater capacity than 2:23 on a hot day? And no, a low-30 10k doesn't equal a 2:18. Maybe a 2:21.
And I don't think Jordan's track times are telling just yet, it looks like her best running is yet to come. If she jumps on the track later this summer, you may see something pretty quick in the 5/10k.
Not trying to downplay Hasay's accomplishment, in fact I am a fan of her too, but Hasay's time was wind-aided and the course was net downhill, all that somewhat canceled out the detrimental effect of the heat.
Huddle, on the other hand, ran on a tougher course, got stuck in the no man's land for a large portion of her race, and most of all, it was done on barely three months of training from the Olympic. I would say at the moment, Huddle still has an edge over Hasay even in the marathon.

If Jordan can run a 14:53 5k then she will be able to keep up with Joyciline Jepkosgei for the first 5K of Joyciline's half-marathon in 1:04:52.
Joyciline's splits were 14:53 for 5k, 30:04 for 10K, 45:37 for 15K, and 1:01:25 for 20k…and she only started running races last year!
Go Jordan!
Eh, Molly got beat by over 4 mins by Keitany while Jordan only lost by a little over a minute to Edna Kiplagat. It's not like 2017 Boston was fast for anyone either... Rupp barely broke 2:10, Ward ran like 2:15, and Desi ran slower than she had in the past. I'd definitely give the debut edge to Hasay. She has the debut record for a reason.
Rupp in the marathon:LA-1st (debut)Olympics - 3rdBoston - 2ndHonestly, if he never runs faster he's still better than most Americans. Meb is 'slow' and considered a marathon legend, why does Rupp have to be different?Remember rupp has run 3:50 mile, sub 13 5k and has the 10k American record, faster than Farrah's PB. Farah ran 2:08 in a fast course/ cool weather for debutI know he may never run 2:04, but he hasn't been in the right situation to even have a crack at it yet. Or he'll keep getting top three running 2:10. I'd take it!

Why would Hasay be a shoe in for 2:20. Salazar had Goucher debut at just under 2:26 and she only managed to take a minute off her debut. If he prepares them as well as everyone says it's tough to shave off a lot of time. Likewise for Rupp the 3-4 minutes or more won't be easy.

Actually the comparison was head to head races, and they've not raced in the marathon.
Hasay has elevated herself to another level, It would not shock me if she ran 14:40 to 14:50 for the 5000 and 30:30-30:50 for 10000 if she runs in Europe this year.
Also if the Woman did not go out so slow, she could have gone 2:21, the Women were running 2:29 pace for 10-15k, she was about 2:25 pace at the half, between 35-40k I heard she ran 16:28 meaning she had a lot left.
If she runs a Berlin/Dubai type race sub 2:20 is possible, she is 25 which is young for a distance runner, the Half Marathon and Marathon American Records are possible in her future, The 30:13 10000 AR is tough, 1 thing she is WAAAAAAY better than Huddle was at 25.
Huddles best at Hasays age was 15:17 and 31:27 for the 5 and 10 on the track, 1 year later Huddle ran 14:44, so it will be interesting to see how Hasay does the next few years.
But she also started running much younger than Huddle.
