I think Jenny would win. She\'s built like a brick sh*t house. Her mid-section is so wide that she looks like a dude.

Yes, being the Diamond Race champ is a tough thing to do. Don't forget that Morgan Uceny did it first. She would have had a Worlds medal in '11 and an Olympic medal in '12 had she not fallen. I would argue that those medals would have been more impressive than Jenny's haul.
Nice point.
Uceny also had the fastest 1500m time in the world in 2011. That is still something neither Simpson or Rowbury have accomplished.
I'd love to see her back in the mix next year. Can you imagine what the trials would be like if she was competitive again? Talk about disrupting the status quo.

Seriously, are you 12 years old or something?
Go away you PC wanker.

nothing wrote:Nothing Shannon said disputed what Jenny said. Jenny said "years" but didn't specify how many, only more than one. According to what Shannon said, Jenny had beaten her in 2013 when she focused on the 5k, 2014, and 2015 up until Monaco.
Jenny was right, and Shannon defends herself like her coach defends himself - by saying things that are true but don't even apply to the actual argument.
True. Shannon doesn't actually take the point head-on, because Jenny's statement is true.
Shannon just responds with excuses..."I wasn't focused on the 1500 that year"..."I was injured that year." It's like Rupp: "I can win 100% of races custom-made for me. Let's not talk about the others."
LOL You guys who are jealous of Rupp are hilarious.

Now that a super elite African woman has dropped down to run the 1500, Shannon and Jenny have a lot more to worry about than each other. If others follow in Dibaba's footsteps, and more 14:10-14:35 5K women run the 1500, the landscape will change dramatically.
At least until the Africans have to endure year round / random tests. Until then, yeah, you may be right.

Nice point? nice point on a woulda coulda shoulda.
we have no way of knowing if Uceny would have won anything had she not fallen in either races. It's just dumb to say she would have medaled had she not fallen.
the only time it's not is in Jager's case. He fell right before the finish.
Uceny really was a beast for a few years, but you need to stay upright.
the roids have made her feisty
"I dont really count the Zurich final, because I feel that I was tripped there."
she feels that she was tripped? anyone who saw that race could tell you that BOTH Rowburry and Simpson dove right at the line - only that simpson timed it better and got the win. They both tripped but thats no excuse. Rowburry just got beat out in that DL race
Jenny was correct to make the distinction in her interview. The women may be in the same ballpark of performances, but Jenny has been on top in their head to head races since about 2012. and 2015-2012= 3 YEARS (plural)
Personally I think that Simpson and Rowburry are both gracious in interviews and give proper credit to the other. The feeling that Simpson "always has an excuse" is misguided; she just likes to realistically break down her and others' performances.

NOPe!
I should have been clearer: The nice point was pointing out that if Simpson gets kudos for winning a DL championship because it's hard, then Uceny does, too.
I'd love to know what's up with the falling, but doubt we ever will.
I just hope she sorts it out in time to have another good year or two.
Beast is exactly the right word.
Can you imagine what would happen if letsrun interviewed these questions?
Go back and watch the video. Jenny stuck her left arm out to impede Shannon's progress. They got entangled, and both went down. Watch the slo-mo replay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU2Skj9XCmk

Oh look the NOP panty sniffers showed up.
Rowbury was at fault
As a Simpson supporter, your display of maturity is disappointing. Jenny is quite well spoken, so I thought she would attract more intelligent people to her. I guess not.

Except he is right. Jenny didn't impede anyone.

Interesting to see that Hassan was 3rd in the race. She (Hassan) tends to start out each season strong and then gradually fades as the year progresses. I won't speculate on why that might be.
It's also interesting how we Americans can't simply appreciate the fact that we have these two great competitors representing the U.S. Instead, people argue about who is better, who might be doping, etc. There is so much negativity. I don't understand why some of the posters here even follow the sport.
Jenny is a talented runner with some excellent championship results. The latest talk is all media chatter. Rowbury did run a great race though. A good coach would advise her to keep things in perspective, and compete at this same level in the upcoming World Championships. Jenny has a World title. Hopefully Shannon can do the same.
Sorry Shannon but Jenny Simpson is better than you regardless of whether you think so or not. She has been the dominant 1500 runner in the U.S.A for the last several years and prominent on the international stage.
Good for you this last race. Yes you beat her. But you are, at this time no where near as impactful or respected as Jenny Simpson.
I hope you continue to improve and bring it. Right now you had one good race. Even though you were 6 seconds behind the winner.

The results speak for themselves. Jenny is a much better runner.
Exactly.
