I already posted a thread on this, and Kiprop will WIN.
the form chart in last few weeks has gone outta window
nijel looked bad in his last race, albeit cold/windy not "african" conditions
Rudy looked in maybe 1'42-mid shape in that 600
bosse ran rubbish at euros
asbel looked lazy in mile win
as long as conditions are good
( no guarantee for zurich where weather for euros was generally miserable )
& assuming Rudy tries to gun it from start
( he didn't in commonwealths )
then it coud be fast
i'm not sure anyone can predict a winner, but if conditions are good & some 50+ to bell by Rudy, then i do think asbel will get a 1'42+ clocking
( if he is fully motivated & runs a committed 800, IMO he can go all the way to 1'41-lows currently if he went thru in ~ 50-flat )
What is this " bye to world champs" mean? Is this new? If Emma is to pull this off, she gets a slot for Worlds? Do we then get to qualify 3 more like usual?

Not new. Yes it means they could potentially have 4 for worlds.
I predict this race produces the world lead, with Rudisha passing 600 in 75.0, and rolling. Amos will be right on his back, then Aman, both trying to pass in the homestretch; Kiprop could come from behind for a PB/win if he stays in it mentally from 3-6. But I like Rudisha's personality & career decisions, so I'll pick him to hold on in 1:41.9.
The 20th place golfer at the RBC Canadian Open at the end of July earned more than $50k. Pathetic that the big prizes in the DL are so damn small.
Mo Aman takes it in the homestretch - 1:42.4

The IAAF World Championships pays out 26% more prize money than the RBC Canadian Open.

Problem is, worlds is once every two years. The rbc canadian open is a scrub tourney in the middle of the pgatour.

Check out the majors and the prize money won't be very much more than what the World Championships pays. The problem isn't the frequency of the championships. The problem is that the RBC open pays to 20 people, and the World Championships pay to 436. Even if they restructured it to pay only to the winners, that money would total out to about $180,000 per winner, because unlike the Masters or US Open, there are about 40 winners being crowned, while there is just one winner at a golf tournament.
Kiprop is going to win.....
Rudisha stuns and pulls away from everyone in the last 100M. WL time. Kiprop is the best of the rest & takes second at the line
to make things more interesting
I just put a bet on Aman to win tonight's race in a double with Ghibri to win the steeple.
In another combination bet I have
- Amos to beat Aman (Amos is better normally)
- Soi to beat Rupp (again, Soi is a better runner)
- Alamirew to beat Edris (well, he is the better runner really despite Edris's WL)
- Kiprop to beat Rudisha (the latter to go out too hard and die like he did in the 600)
- Beitia to beat Vlasic (hoping Blanka pulls out after one jump coz of injury)
This is so difficult. I have to go with Rudisha. He has been getting closer and closer to Amos and he has another month of training behind since the Commonwealth Games.
Race prediction:
1. Rudisha
2. Aman
3. Kiprop

We said we'd make our prediction today so here goes. We are ruling out the 1500 guys. It just makes no sense they'd beat all of the world's best at 800.
We want to pick Rudisha for the feel good aspect of it.
However, the staff all thinks while he's improving that it's hard to win from the front and he's not that much better than everyone right now, if at all, to pull it off.
Amos is our pick. He's been the best 800 guy on the year. His last race scares us a lot. Thus it's tempting to pick Aman who has always excelled with the DL title on the line.
But Amos is our pick.
Editor's Update: This thread started out as a men's 800 prediction thread but we have turned it into the Official 2014 Weltkalsse Zurich Live Discussion Thread.
Our preview of the first of two DL finals is now up.
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/08/zurich-preview/The schedule and results can be found here:
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/08/results-2014-weltklasse-zurich-iaaf-diamond-league-track-field-athletics-meeting-results/Thursday's action should be special.
The men's 800 is crazy as it includes everyone and almost everyone in the field could theoretically still win the DL title.
We are having a hard time picking a winner in the men's 800.
Who do you think will win?
Our prediction will be made on Thursday.
A few of the field events are done. In the women's long jump, American Tianna Bartoletta had a clutch 5th jump to move into second, which ended up netting her $40,000 and the DL title. Bartoletta tied with Spanovic for the title but won the tiebreaker (most DL wins).
