Anyone watching that race could see the Rowbury was closing in fast and would have won had Jenny not flung herself in front of Shannon and tripped them both.

Yes, the title was changed. The first thing I thought when I saw that race live was, "Will that be a DQ?"

In my mind, officials have to be vigilant when it impacts the end of the race like it did here.

I'd have no problem with an appeal by Salazar here. At a minimum, the officials shoudl be watching a replay.

I guarantee you that, wherever he is, he is screaming right now.

Go to 5:50 in. Simpson is running with her normal stride. At 5:56, when Rowbury is about to pass her, Simpson's left arm goes much wider than her normal stride. Simpson's arm clearly causes the contact.

Not sure if it is a DQ worthy offense, but for those of you who are saying Rowbury caused the fall, you are flat out blind

Because Rowbury was being squeezed off of the track by Simpson.

Personally, I hate DQ's for bumping when racing. I need to see something real egregious to call for a DQ. But that is me thinking about the spirit of racing and not reading the rulebook.

How similar was it to what Rowbury did to Huddle in the US 5000m?

Not nearly as pronounced. A drift at the very end of the race of half a lane. Not the sepentine that Rowbury performed across three lanes and back.

Well, everyone seemed to blame Hasay for the contact with Grunewald during indoor nationals

Hasay was in the front of that race.

I guess that rule only applies to people who don't run for the NOP

JB caused contact on the arm/hand, sure.

But Rowbury went down a full two strides later on a not so awkward step.... looked like a flop to me.

I didn't say I would DQ her. I'd just look at it.

I'm about to go back and watch the replay myself but it seemed to me like Simpson took one step back with her left foot inside. Technically, you are supposed to run a straight line home. Now people don't do that. They often drift out and never get DQd but do you get DQd for coming back inside to shut the door down?

It seemed as if Simpson was on the far outside of lane 1 at the start of the straight (to push Hassan wide). That would mean there would be space for Rowbury on the inside. That space didn't exist at the finish.

Is it a DQ? Not sure.

Simpson clearly caused the contact. You can't cause contact from the front - yes - but you can from the side, which is where Jenny was in relation to Rowbury at 5:56 in the video. Her left arm goes out - why? To impede Rowbury.
