I hope I'm wrong, but does anyone else feel a Solinsky-type AR upset scenario by True this time? Rupp goes under the AR, but gets beaten to it by True? No one thought Solinsky would beat Rupp in his 10,000 AR attempt a few years ago.
No, Ben True just ran 3:37, Galen Rupp runs 3:34 and a 3:50 indoor mile
Plus, Galen Rupp just ran 26:44, has Ben True ever even broken 27:40? He's almost a minute off of Rupp in the 10k and he's supposed to be an "aerobic monster" and "endurance based runner", so what makes you think he's going to beat him in the 5k if he's significantly better in the mile and 10k and don't even get me started w/ 3k; Galen ran 7:30.16 and that was indoor, Ben True couldn't even touch a sub-7:40...
Solinsky had the potential coming in to run that 26:59 and that was indeed much softer record than 12:53... Look how much Rupp has taken from Solinsky's 26:59 all the way to 26:44 in 2 record attempt tries, and def a huge chunk off of 27:13...
Based on Rupp's fast indoor times, PRE, and Oslo, I see him running 12:51, and True 12:59, I don't see True improving much from that mark though nor Galen, their about peak age right now and they've probably put the max amount of mileage in right now to max out aerobic capacity
