Absolutely! I had a long chat with Mark at USA's he's a gracious guy and a great coach.

does anyone think that Simpson should quit it with front running so aggressively? She gaps the field by a considerable amount and then Aregawi comes up like its nothing when 400m comes along. I thought Simpson had a kick?

Perhaps it's hard to say in a race that is so fast. Did Jenny have even splits?

Aregawi died horribly on the last lap. It was Jenny's move from 800 that broke her and killed the kicks of everyone except Hassan. It's the best tactic for her. She tried waiting till the last lap to kick in New York and ended up a well-beaten third -- and several of the big guns from the Paris race weren't even running in New York. She tries that in Paris, she'd ended up 5th or 6th.

Putting some perspective on the Aregawi result, she is carrying a thigh injury on her right leg and clearly wasn't looking to risk anything. I don't think that she died, she just didn't shift up as she would normally do. I suspect this was more about testing out her thigh prior to the European Champs.

She complained about her foot after the race.

I didn't notice the foot, only the long tape down her right quad. 4:04 is her taking it cautiously.

At some point Amercans need to remember that this really comes down to win or lose. We need to stop taking about time and records and remember this is a competition and place matters over time and records. What's the point of constantly running a fast time if you don't win. They both did well but cannot outkick for the win.

The fast pace probably puts them in the best position to win. They are competing, pushing the races, making the field hurt.. it's great to watch. Once they both get the AR then they can focus more on tactics. It's an off year. Run fast!
