Man, talk about over-analyzing statements made right after a race. She's like anybody else and just wants a fast time and maybe a PR. That's all I took from the interview.

The rabbit was told to run 4:20. Who in that field would ask for 4:20 pace? The NOP. When you anticipate a 4:20 race and you're not in 4:20 shape you go to the back of the pack and hope to hold on to a good time. It didn't play out that way. Yes, you have to be ready for different race tactics but it would be frustrating immediately after the race when your one chance to run a fast time this indoor season is ruined because a ridiculous pace was requested that only 2 women would have tried to go after. It's just frustrations immediately after a race. It happens.
Here's a novel idea, just go out at the pace that you wish to run.
I must have missed the part where Emma calls people out. Who has never run a race where one is frustrated afterwards? A mile goes by fast when things aren't going as planned. You do what you can do. Hopefully some USA runner comes along who isn't afraid to hammer MC right from the start. That seems like a no-brainer.
What about the rabbit in the W800? She should have been interviewed and she might have had similar frustrations. "I was asked for x:xx and then they wouldn't let me get to the lead!! Man, that's frustrating!"
Man, the pros are freaking out with all these High Schoolers up in their grill. Next thing you know Cranny will start "kidding" some pros. Not a great time to be a 4:0x/1500 pro woman. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jenny back in the steeple next year (she's made some motions in that direction in her interviews about the current state of the steeple).
Emma was so, so... blonde in that interview.
I don't think Emma intended to go with the rabbit, others asked for a fast rabbit then didn't use that rabbit. That all of a sudden leaves a slow pack because no one wants to lead. That's the idea of the rabbit who was 20 meter ahead of everyone. Remember how ridiculous the 2013 USA indoor championship mile was? So Coburn stepped up and made an honest race out of it and became the defacto rabbit. I can understand her frustration.
Emma did a nice job of being honest, critical but still gracious. Not easy to do.I like when runners don't sugar coat everything.
She is a much cuter de facto rabbit than Cam Levins.
Wonder if she really killed it in the post-race workout?
Attractive young lady, but her story about no one chasing the rabbit makes no sense.
It's called a race. Quit the whining. Kind of pathetic when anyone calls another out in a race for not taking the pace - like anyone has an obligation! Poor sport!

If Emma wanted to go with the rabbit, why didn't SHE go? She's certainly good enough that if she went, the others, including Cain, would have to hang with her. The rabbit eventually slowed down because nobody went with her.
Regarding the 52-53, Cain may be faster than any other woman in the last 100 of a 1500, but sub-53 is world class for a sprinter, in sprint spikes, running out of blocks. Alysia Montano has that kind of speed for personal bests in races. And Cain is going to do this in workouts? More Oregon bullshit.
Maybe. Mary Decker's 400 PR is 53.84. Given Mary Cain's other times, 53-54 for her is certainly believable.
IMHO, the NOP peed in the puchbowl of this race. All of the fans, the runners, the tv audience were all gypped out. Everyone wants a fast race. Everyone wants to be entertained by the race. Seems like Coburn at least made the effort to make it an honest race. Don't call for a 4:20 rabbit if you're not going to use one.
Emma is complaining because...
Al Sal picked the pace of the rabbit and said 2:10 at the 800.
Then Al Sal's athletes didn't go with the ridiculous pace that he requested.

The rabbit did though, and that's what he wanted... see.
are you saying he sabotaged the race?
Why does she turn her head side to side when she runs. She's putting herself and everyone else watching to sleep. She can probably take 5-6 seconds off her time if she had good form. Who's her coach? Seriously.
Salazar shouldn't be able to dictate the pace of the race if his athletes aren't going to follow the rabbit. Coburn wasn't complaining, she was simply stating the facts. She was the only one who had enough courage to break the slow pace and take the lead after that first 800. Coburn is an honest, matter-of-fact kind of girl. I think everyone should be refreshed to see an interview like that instead of the typical sugar-coated, post-race interview we see from so many runners.

You can't tell how efficient form is just by looking at it.
Wow K, are you interested in track? Let the grown ups talk. The point of an interview is to find out what the athlete thinks of the event. Coburn is a classy part of American Track and Field.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
