New York, NY – The New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory is proud to announce that track and field’s most accomplished couple, Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton, will be competing at the 107th NYRR Millrose Games on Saturday, February 15. Both multi-event specialists will compete in two events, adding to an already stellar NYRR Millrose Games program. Eaton, 25, is the 2012 Olympic gold medalist and world record holder in the Decathlon. Theisen-Eaton earned a silver medal in the Heptathlon at the 2013 IAAF World Championships. Both will be making their first appearance at The Armory.
“I’m excited about competing again at the prestigious Millrose Games and for the first time at its new home in the Armory,” said Ashton Eaton. “Millrose is something special and I am excited to be a part of the meet’s continued history. This year I will focus quite a bit on World Indoors and defending my title and I expect to be in top shape coming into Millrose.”
Both Eaton and Theisen-Eaton will be competing in one running event and one field event. Eaton is entered in the 60 meter Hurdles and Pole Vault, while Theisen-Eaton will race the 60 meter Hurdles and compete in the Long Jump.
“You can’t ask for better than this outstanding couple, the best athlete in the world in Ashton Eaton and one of the finest all-purpose performers in Brianne Theisen,” said Dr. Norbert Sander, Executive Director of the Armory Foundation.
In 2012, Ashton Eaton captured the hearts of millions at the London Olympics, winning the Decathlon in dominant fashion. In the process, he earned the most sought after title in sports: World’s Greatest Athlete.
Theisen-Eaton, a native of Canada, will face stiff competition in the long jump. Among those entered are Olympic bronze medalist Janay DeLoach Soukup of the United States, World Championships silver medalist Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria, and 2012 European Champion Éloyse Lesueur of France.
