I just watched the race and post-race interview. What’s the big deal? Why is everyone getting their panties in a twist about the interview? If a white male said the same, would you feel the same?
The 75% white population of Letsrun has the tightest, most clenched b hole when Sha'Carri speaks.
I think we all know she’s not the most verbose or doesn’t the grasp of proper grammar. And yes I get what she was trying to say but…you know she thought about this interview beforehand and the fact she couldn’t come up with anything more coherent speaks volumes about her intelligence
Most post race interviews are incoherent. People are out of breath, thanking god for some reason, or rambling about nonsense. I understood what she said because I am capable of filling in the gaps. She actually said a lot when you think about it. Probably cut herself off a little to avoid saying something profane. She basically said, "last year I was talking to you post race in disappointment, now I'm here as a champion. I was never gone, I just got better," which is refreshingly eloquent. Instead of whining about how she was treated by media (and Letsrun) she went to the lab and worked her tail off.. this is the result of that work.
I pretty much liked your whole post, but was the bolded really necassary? Isn't that kind of religously insenstive?
I’m pretty agnostic on most things athletes say. And I think the swagger is generally good for the sport. I had to laugh, though, when Sha’Carri told Lewis that she was now physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to do an interview, and then she proceeded to run away and NOT do an interview with him.
Maybe the haters have her all wrong. Maybe she’s offering a sophisticated meta-commentary on the vacuousness of post-race interviews.

I think it's religiously insensitive to assume god spends time helping track athletes win races.

Right lol to be honest I don't even listen to most post race interviews because they're generally pretty silly and lame. Posters on her, for some reason, expect SR to be Aristotle.

As an aging WASP I find Sha'Carri engaging, resilient, and a great competitor. Unclench your b-holes and enjoy the show. If she can take worlds it will be a great day for American sprinters!
