I’m not a sprint guy. How good is that time? All I know is she smoked Gabby Thomas and Steiner. Winning open 400 is doable now right?
She’ll run the 400 or 400h + she’ll be in the 4x400 pool. She’ll win either of the individual events she’ll be in. She’s currently the best in the world at 400 & 400h. Nobody else has a chance in either of those events. I mentioned in another thread and will say it again, Syd is going to be the best we’ve seen her this year.
Steiner has nothing to worry about. She’s on the right track in her recovery from surgery. She’s got nothing to worry about unless she is injured again.
It's a pedestrian 200m time, but her coach is Bob Kersee, so she'll run at least 47.x if she's in 22.0 "shape" in May.
You are an idiot if you think 22.07 is a pedestrian time. Especially for someone who doesn't concentrate on it although 200s are part of the training for 400s.

It is a damn good time. There are few pro women who are 200M specialists who can run faster than this on their best day.
And don't forget this distance is not Sydney's speciality. But it bodes damn well for the 400 distance. A shame I won't get to see her running the 400 flat in Paris.
Why does she need to change coach? She ran worse at this meet last year and got a silver medal.
Because she is inconsistent and peaks at the wrong time. She ran 21.60 at Trials and then could barely eke out a 21.8 at the global championship. This has happened twice. Once is a mistake and crap can happen. Twice is a pattern. She seems to be making the same mistake Felix made with staying with Kersee where she pretty much stagnated.

Thomas is a bit of a surprise.
She has declared. She will be competing at the 400H. Most likely she will be part of the pool for the 4x4 as well.

It’s an elite all-time type performance. With a .548 start alone 22.07 is crazy. Then into a slight wind, 2 months before peak with no one that close in the race. This could have been a 21.5 performance today if she didn’t walk out of the blocks and had a 1.0 wind.

21.8 is not a bad time, and she wasn't going to win that race no matter who coached her considering that would require 21.40 which is more than she can run even in Eugene with a tailwind. I think changing coach when you haven't had any adverse results to your career is quite short-sighted, especially considering it could literally take a year to adjust to a new program. Furthermore, she volunteers at some hospital near where she trains so she probably can't change coach even if she wanted to considering her mother is pressing her to remain involved with health stuff as she values it more than track.

Yeah, I know she wasn't going to beat Jackson, but 21.8 is a bad time for someone who only a month earlier had run 21.6. She should have been in at least 21.7 mid shape.
Stagnating or having inconsistent results is adverse, especially if your chief competitor keeps improving. She now not only has Jackson to compete with, but Elaine is as well. And Steiner is slowly running herself in shape after her injury. So it's a good possibility she will not be on the podium in Paris.
One only have a short amount of time to be an athlete; she will have several decades to do the other stuff. Her mother understands this.
Huge difference between Sid’s speed vs Femke Bol who might manage a 22.5 in the 200
Bol runs 22.6 indoors, so outdoor probably 22 low
No, that's not how it works. Indoor efficiency does not always directly translate to outdoors. But don't worry, Bol and her coach are now planning to run some 200s as well. Coz you know they will be copying everything Sydney does.

Gabby needs to change coach.
Gabby also ran a very slow 22.90 at this same meet last season. She ended up running a pretty OK time of 21.60 at the trials lol. She seems very inconsistent though, she'll run a 22.80 one week and then throw down a 22 flat the next week. Very odd.
