Suppose you had $1000 +1000 on Edna Kiplagat to win the 2021 Boston Marathon. What recourse do you have when Kipyokei is suspended and Kiplagat is upgraded to the winner? Are there policies in place for other individual sports like MMA?

I don't think you have any recourse, its just too slippery of a slope to police. Medina Spirit's Kentucky Derby win was vacated after a failed drug test, but the results are final in the eyes of the sportsbook.
Well since it’s only available on off shore sites that are illegal in the USA you have no recourse
why would you expect to have recourse when you are breaking the law. One of the motivations for states regulating gambling is some form of consumer protection..although a long long way behind their interests in tax revenue
You know who loves even money? This guy right here. Max bet for that site for this race is 125 though. Amateur hour. Find any other place who's offering Boston betting if you want to make a real investment.
That's why I've always laughed at the notion that sports are fixed, especially obscure sports. The betting limits are laughable. There's no way anyone would fix something to collect crumbs.
Likewise with NFL props. Those limits are a joke. The sportsbooks are absolutely terrified to hang numbers on anything for high dollar amount when they don't have several sets of mathematical power ratings to blend together toward consensus number.
For some reason not many people who have worked in sportsbooks have ever posted on sports forums. If you have worked in the field then you realize it's not sophisticated at all. Total disconnect between reputation and reality. But many people who have worked in the business aren't willing to be honest about it. They want to protect the myth, so their friends will be wowed and hang on every word.
I post on here occasionally but people like you always seem to think you know more than those of us in the business. I own two Sportsbook licenses
Billy Walters became a multi billionaire through beating Sportsbooks. The limits aren’t low. Mattress Mac bets aren’t exactly low although it’s a lot of work to get as much money down as he does
listen to past episodes of gambling with an edge if you want to hear how professional sports bettors do it
the host of house of run Jason Halpin has been in Sportsbooks for years. Recently moved to the supplier side of the business
The line started at even, was updated to -115 by ~9am eastern, then it wasn't available for a brief while, then it came back as -200 at ~10am eastern. I'm unfamiliar with how these things work but it would be interesting to know the actual reasons for the changes - placed bets, new intel, something else?
I put $200 on the GOAT for my chance to win $100. Probably the closest I'll get to making money from running

It's a hypothetical -- there's a very good chance people will be able to bet legally in the US on the 2024 Boston Marathon.

most likely the majority of the bets came in on kipchoge, so they kept moving his odds. he's up to -400 now, which is ridiculous to me. would love to be on the other side of that bet.
as others have pointed out, this is a super small market with ~$100 max bets, so it's more like marketing/customer acquisition for bovada than them actually trying their hardest to create accurate lines. They probably just move the market a bit depending how the money is coming in.
thanks for the thought. NJ is apparently blocked as well (NY, NJ, DE, MD, and NV are blocked for whatever reason).
But I can vpn to any location I want so that's not the question - my question is that when I create an account I have to enter an address. I'm new to online gambling, so I'm unsure if lying about my address matters at all. Like when I go to withdraw the money (or pay the debt) - does my bank account have to get verified via a real address or can I just put it a fake address and it'll all work out.
it is an illegal offshore book (for them, not you. it's legal to use bovada but they are breaking the law by offering you services in the usa) so it doesn't matter if you lie about address. a lot of people use crypto so you don't have to deal with offshore gambling transactions through your bank, which can get you flagged as us banks don't want the headache of facilitating those tx.
You can still bet on Boston in a few states so there must be betting odds out there somewhere. Does anyone know what they are? I tried to find them but couldn'tLRC update: Bettings odds are here:https://www.letsrun.com/news/2...

Any legitimate US sports book a VPN doesn't work. They geofence. The first sports book I was negotiating my license with I asked the operator about why VPN's work for say accessing the BBC. They said anyone can stop you using a VPN but most companies don't really care enough to pay a geofencing service. For instance, if you try to use a VPN to say you are in NJ to bet on a NJ site and you aren't, it won't work.
Kipchoge is now -500 lol. anyone that got him -150 or better should be very happy...that is incredible value. whether he wins or loses it is almost impossible to realize that kind of CLV in the major sports. actually going to sign up on bovada now because no US books offer T&F lines (besides maybe the olympics).

That is exactly what it is. The betting line at the start was just a give me bet to lure customers. Paying $100 to get a new better is low cost for them. If Kipchoge doesn't win, it's even a greater boon for them.

This is true. All US legal betting sites are up the wall in technology to track where your bet is coming from because the chance of them being wrong is too costly.
