It's more comfortable, I live in the deep south and the heat ain't playing. Often even in winter months it can be 70+ with 70%+ humidity. More importantly if I'm running 5+ times a week all year long those shirts add up in terms of extra laundry. It's just practical.
And I'm not concerned what people might think. It's literally just the top half of my body. We're way too sensitive about people's bodies. It's not hurting anyone, if it bothers you look somewhere else, I'm not touching you or forcing you to look at me and be offended.
Pretend you were an unbiased journalist for AP wire:
Kelvin Kiptum, a 23 year old man who entered today's Marathon as the 20th fastest 1/2 Marathoner all time has won V Marathon today with a time of 2:01:53. Mr K Kiptum is now the 3rd fastest Marathoner all time. Poster, why shouldn't a sub-59 1/2 Marathoner also race sub-2:02 Marathon? You should have been shocked when he raced sub-59 1/2 Marathon, not shocked today. We saw today on female and male side, 10000m on the track is not strongly correlated with Marathon results. I have stated for years on this site, there are 3000m to 1/2 Marathon athletes. 3000m to 1/2 Marathon athletes may race Marathon in a time that correlates strongly with 3000m to 1/2 Marathon times or maybe not. Kelvin Kiptum certainly is not a 3000m to 1/2 Marathon athlete. Kelvin Kiptum is a 1/2 Marathoner & Marathoner. He could most likely be a top 50K man if he chooses to race 50K.
Can we please use interpreters for these moments? It is rediculous this still happens. The interpreter doesn't even need to travel there - can work over an ear piece. Hospitals have this figured out, so can running
Kenya barely escapes a total ban, and a couple of days later a Kenyan runner few of us have heard of runs 2:01.

No, you would not expect a 2:01 from a 58:42 (and more regularly a 59min) guy
Kiptum has run under 59, but only once and in 2020. Since then he has run 28:17, 28:27, 59:02 and 59mid. None of those times correlate to a 2:01 Marathon. Even his 58:42 doesn't really.

Oh. We're going to pick this apart. Sub-2:02 Marathon is extremely fast. I didn't count all of the sub-59 1/2 Marathoners, about 3 dozen? Right? Of course sub-59 1/2 Marathon doesn't guarantee a sub-2:02. I stated we are seeing, 10000m on the track is not strongly correlated with Marathon. If you're implying p.e.d.s, you're also implying p.e.d.s don't work for 10000m on the track.
Is anyone else here a bit skeptical of the times? Multiple national records, debut records etc etc. Is the course short? Was the course set up in such a way that around bends you could cut short? Things just don’t add up for me.
Course isn't short, but very flat.
Almost no wind, 7°C, great competition, good pacers...
The Sub-2 is coming, when nobodies like Kiptum are running 2:01s with huge negative splits, it's a sure there's a lot more to come. I'm guessing within the next 5 years it will go down.
Berlin is done as the premier fall flat race, Valencia is just a better race, possibly faster and has a bigger budget, I predict we won't see another world record on the Berlin Course, it will turn into what Chicago is now. All the NN athletes are debuting or running Valencia these days, the likes of Kiplimo and Cheptegei will almost certainly follow that trend when they decide to debut. If a guy like Kiptum can run 2:01 there with a huge negative split, I think its not out of this World to think that either Kiplimo or Cheptegei who are a class above him have a very legitimate shot as breaking two hours when they move up.
My money is on Kiplimo going sub 2 within the next 5 years

What is a p.e.d. exactly? Gimme your rationale for such a belief. Gimme some reliable numbers that can't be contested?

Unfortunately there is a growing cynicism about the sport. Instead of being excited for fast times people are more likely to suspect doping now. WA not doing enough to clean it up and have lost trust with fans.

Interestingly If you look at the men's top 25 only Kipchoge and Bekele have great track times (3000-10000) and accolades. For the women there are several with good track accolades - wonder why this is so.
No doubt a prime KB with supershoes could run sub 57:30 as well.

It is tempting to say that, and I would think initially that KB in 2009 with todays shoes would have all records from 5000 through marathon. The issue is that it discounts the steps other WR have made.
In 2009 when 204 was sorta "the next barrier", there's just no way KB would have said ok instead of 204 I'm going sub 2. I mean, maybe, but considering how many WR we've had in between, I think the bar needs raised gradually, one of those "know it can be done" is a benefit that we cannot measure.
For the race today, come on guys. You know what you're seeing, but then again, there are people here that will even dismiss positive tests for some unknown agenda. Is no one even going to blink that an unproven marathon runner just ran 28:05 at the end of the race to come within seconds of KB?
Do I have to spell it out for you? All Australian masters runners are doped to the gills.
Get a life JWH. She wasn't in October when she ran 32:29.
I don’t understand what running 32:29 in October vs. 2:21 today has to do with whether she’s doping or not.
I’m not honestly accusing her of doping. I thought it would be obvious I was joking, parodying the posters who accuse the entire continent of Africa of doping, since running a 2:21 PR at 45 y.o. could easily be described as an “unbelievable” performance.
The problem is my jokes get shoddy when I stay up till 4 a.m. to watch a marathon.

Do you believe in talent ?? Yes or not ??? You and another poster that point out how this Kiptum has 59' half marathon time blah blah blah blah.
Now consider this . Who are the absolute GOAT in distance running ??? Bekele and Kipchoge right ??? At least those ones more near to us , then of course if we look back there are many others , from Tergat , Gebre etc.etc.
Now if Kipchoge and even more Bekele it took years of marathons to go sub 2:02. How the hell we can believe that this guy at his first marathon run a sub 2:02 ??? It's just against common sense , but I know that these shocking and upset performance are the result of a rampant system of doping like we have in Kenya
Two case or we are in front of the greatest distance runner ever lived on the planet or the guy is just another kenyan to add to the long list of great dopers
Do I have to spell it out for you? All Australian masters runners are doped to the gills.
So post that under your real name if you are so brave and sure of yourself.
Lol.
My name is Andrew (Andy) Larison Marshall. I grew up and went to high school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and now live in Des Moines. I’m 30 years old and currently an unemployed recovering alcoholic hoping that some newly prescribed psychotropics will help me with my depression and substance abuse.
My comment was a sarcastic (lame) attempt at humor, but the “post under your real name, coward” bit is the real joke here.
