They should start bussing earlier. Tickets should be sold for specific bussing times.
They could just start bussing earlier, first come, first served. No need for further logistics hassle charging different ticket prices (unless they want to make additional money.)
Huh? Cross country has 1% of the fan base of football and now we are trying to eliminate even more of them. Your apology is incorrect. Football hoods it's championship in the largest venue possible. They don't hold it at a stadium that holds 5000. They use one that holds 70,000. If there was a stadium that holds 250,000, they wouldn't use a stadium that holds 70,000. We have many courses that could accommodate all spectators. And telling people to get tickets early doesn't change the maximum, it just changes which people get to attend and which others are disappointed.
There are college football stadiums that hold over 100,000 that are not selected.
But they don't select stadiums that hold 70,000 and then limit the number of attendees to 20,000 because of poor access roads and parking.
Exactly! Imagine showing up on the day of the NCAA College Football Playoff or Final Four and expecting tickets to still be available. LOL! Plan ahead or miss out!
Have you ever been to the ncaa xc champs? I’ve been to 15 of them. All of them before this year you could buy a ticket day of. Except Covid year. But ok blame spectators for imagining the course could handle a crowd like every other course has
Normally, I'm anti-whining, but I can see why some are expressing disappointment. Any venue for a large or important event that requires a majority of the attendees to shuttle in is simply not the right venue. I love PF, but it isn't the right place for a national xc meet due to its accessibility issues. To me, the fact that it was chosen points toward too few of people caring about the sport. It's just like courses that are not the right distance or marked incorrectly.
Since I'm flying in from Wisconsin, I'm bummed that there are no tickets. Still hoping to find some, and last resort will be to try to sneak on the course somehow. Wouldn't be the first time!
Being from Wisconsin, I am also confused by the low number of tickets available. The Zimmer Course in Madison also has no on-site parking for spectators, but that doesn't stop them from getting 10k+ fans transported in. They did it a few years back for Nationals, and will be doing it again next year.
Host school should be doing everything they can to make sure the event is well attended. 5k spectators is nothing for a meet like this! There are SIXTY TWO schools competing! Over 500 athletes! "Selling Out" the meet isn't all that cool if the max capacity that the logistics can handle is such a low number. And remember, 3000 of those tickets went to athlete requests, so there were only 2000 for the general public?!? That's poorly done by UVA.

without defending anyone. I think a limiting factor is how compacted the course is. 2 3K loops for the W, but each loop has an area they see twice, and almost half the loop few if any will go to watch. I amagine it might be pretty crowded with the 5000 paid attendees.
The course has much more spectator space than Wisconsin or Oklahoma State which both have some narrow trails and otherwise spectatrs are standing in tall grass.

Yeah, but one thing about that OSU was the homogeneously beautiful, groomed Bermuda track. This year’s course appears to be somewhat an opposite to that.
