So you don’t understand how threads like this from fans would result in more backlash when their runner underperforms compared to the examples you listed, whose fans do not do this?
Sometimes there are legitimate physical explanations for an off race. The coach said it and was evident from the results and the info from the meet. Again she was 13 seconds down to a runner she has beaten by 30+ and 16 seconds this season. She was 15 seconds off her time last year on the same course set in a final K kick race. I mean there are always going to be off races when you are not at your best, but this was an outlier. If you think this run was indicative of her fitness level that she has shown this season, even at Nuttycombe, than you are simply mistaken. Who gives a fig about a few embittered haters on LRF if it bothers them.
The pattern we see is Tuohy has been losing steadily for 6 months but her fans continue to make predictions that don't come to fruition and then they won't admit that she is just not as good as Valby or Wiley.
I think all the statements that Henes made in press interviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. On Friday she had an incentive to tell people Touhy was fine (and she did), and on Saturday she had an incentive to tell people Touhy was sick (and she did).
The key video to me is the one that was not an interview, the one where Touhy went up to her crying, and Henes clearly told Touhy she didn’t think Touhy would be able to finish. This was not prepared or staged — it was an unvarnished look into what the truth of the situation was.
Touhy was sick. It doesn’t take anything away from Valby’s win, and it also doesn’t resolve any of the questions from the spring as it regards Touhy’s prospects. But it meant everything to the one group of people Touhy cared the most about — her teammates. They know the truth; and they admire her for what she did, just as she admires them for what they did.

There are people who support Tuohy. There are people who support Valby. There are people who support Wiley. It’s fine. People do what they like to do, and that’s fine. You don’t have to ask everyone to apologize or convert after your queen wins a race. It is just one race. What if she loses the next one?
We are also sick .... suck of Tuohy and her supporters always making excuses for her. In the spring when she brings up the rear of the 1500, we will be told after the race how she was on her death bed the entire week leading up to the final. Give it a rest. No one else is always making excuses.
LOL imagine being an adult, presumably male, and typing this out.. thinking it’s a good look, and pressing send

Tuohy was obviously unwell, but that didn't stop her from graciously taking a photo with my fangirl daughter as the coaches were trying to get her out of the venue. It was not her first photo by a longshot. I'll always support her because she is a kind women and a strong role model. And, everybody I was with was yelling about the points in the last kilometer, and KT did what she could given where she was.
Meanwhile, she lost to a woman who was determined and ready to execute. If I were Valby, it would burn me up that I exorcised last year's demons, won handily, and yet still have to deal with all these "Tuohy is so gutsy" talk. That's villain origin story stuff - what's she got to do to have the spotlight by herself for a day? Woulda, coulda, shoulda is irrelevant...on Saturday, Valby got it done.

Because that is what cross country is all about.
I saw that video yesterday. It is on social media of another running site. It hits really, really hard. I’m not a very emotional person for the most part but this video is about 45 seconds long and I was in tears by the end of it. Many of the comments reflect the same reaction.that I had. The part where KT is crying telling her coach “I’m sorry, I’m sorry” is just brutal. She didn’t know they had won and blamed herself. Coach Henes of course comforted her and then she looked up and saw the score and that they won and literally dropped to the ground still crying.
To all the trolls and just generally hateful people on here trashing her, calling her a quitter and saying she wasn’t sick or was making excuses, what if this was your daughter in this situation?

Can you please at least state the site, if not an actual link? TIA

Tuohy was sick and still ran well. She was healthy at Nuttycombe and lost by 12 seconds to Valby. Last year she ran 19:08 at Panorama Farm, a course record. This time Valby ran a course record of 18:57 and Lemngole was also ahead of Tuohy's old course record. So, with Tuohy at her best this year, maybe she could have been close but then Valby also was boxed at the start until well into the first 1k and then had a side stitch, so she might well have run faster, especially if Tuohy or anyone else was pushing her. The hypotheticals go both ways.

Yeah, this video shook me too. I shared it with the runners in my family, as well.
Oddly enough, whether you’re a fan or not is largely dependent on the trolls on this forum contributing to it. But she, as an athlete, just puts it out there hard. She may not win every time (that 1500m final was rough), but you have to respect how hard she pushes herself.
That’s one thing that I appreciate in both Tuohy and Valby: they are both true fighters. You don’t see their type of hustle very often.
