She should have applied basic hygiene precautions, particularly the week of the NCAAs. Wear masks, wash hands, stay away from people that are coughing, sneezing, avoid crowds.
Some of the responsibility falls on the coach and the athlete.
She herself never said a word. But it was obvious. She was never in this race. She never even tried to go with Valby and then dropped off the top 4 and back into the pack. Or maybe her coaches, teammates, the photographic evidence, the results, etc are all lying. :)
Yeah it’s not like she has a track record of doing this…. Cough track National champs last year….

WAAAAAAAAH! SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN QUARANTEENED! Haven't you idiots have had enough of your forced hysteria yet? Viruses are part of the natural world. Billions of them per cubic meter of air. Being exposed to them is what reinforces our immunity. It's been that way for all species for millions of years.
But in this case it is true. Sorry. The fact that you think that her coach and teammates would lie, or that people who were told she had a fever would lie, is silly. So she went to the medical tent for drama? LOL. And while this might be above your head, it was her coach, who has only won three national titles, who acknowledged it. Tuohy has never said a word and has not made excuses her entire career even when she has had some very good ones.
Being sick IS an excuse. There is nothing wrong with that. It's sad to see losers like yourself dwell on petty little sh/it like this.
the word excuse has been given a very negative connotation. I would say it's not an excuse, its a REASON
Negative connotation, only by losers you mean. Excuse/reason are the same thing. Lets see, in hs I ran the State Meet the day after burying my mom. Dropped a bowling ball on my foot the night before the Olympic Trials. Slipped on dogs/hit and cut a gash in my back the morning of NCAA track. Dislocated my shoulder the week of NCAA XC. Sh/it happens. Only losers dwell on it. The reason why they think excuses are bad is because they are projecting their entire running experience on others. They need to. It's all they have. That's why they will never be in the game. It's just embarrassing to see threads like this. Runners like Tuohy don't think like losers. That's the difference.
She doesn’t have to say a word when her sycophants make the excuses for her. Sad to see it.

Also would say that being sick is a reason. An excuse implies that one is using their reason to absolve their performance.
FWIW: Tuohy hasn’t made excuses for her 5th place finish, or made any statement. Her coach was asked during an interview.
Her win against Valby wasn’t even assured if she was 100%, but I don’t see any quotes of them saying ‘if she’d been sick, she would’ve won.’ Seems they’ve just accepted it is what it is.
It’s amazing how everyone says the Tuohy fanboys were rampant on letsrun, but the haters come out of the woods in the last 24 hours.
Where was the criticism of Salpeter when she blew up in third at the Olympics and walked/jogged it in and said she was on her period after the fact?
Where was the criticism of Nur when he only came in third at the ncaas and he said he had food poisoning after the fact?
Cooper Teare was supposed to be top 5 in Tallahassee and couldn’t make it to the finish line and he didn’t even know what happen. Were you arguing that he just pretended to fall across the line because he knew he wasn’t going to win?
Crap happens. Somethings you can’t control. Illness on a college campus is rampant. And unfortunately it can happen on the biggest day of the year.
