Haters say Salazar Can't Coach the marathon, but I think they're wrong.
3 great NOP debuts today!

HASAY 2:23:00
He can't coach a 26:44 to win a 2nd tier 'thon.
Rupp's almost as fast as Benji Durden.
I hope so. This was a great day for Alberto, NOP, and US & Japanese running!
Salazar has a created a LOT of marathon carcasses trying to get the dosages just right for the benefit of his BFF, Rupp
What he surely can coach is racing in warm or hot conditions. Hasay, Rupp, and Osako all prepared for racing in the heat. That is in part what Salazar meant when he discussed how well prepared Hasay was for this race. All of Rupp's marathons have been in warm to hot weather. It will be interesting to see how he stacks up compared to the East Africans when the weather is not a factor (yes, I realize this sounds counter-intuitive). I haven't seen any of the post-race interviews, but perhaps someone asked about this.
the biggest test is whether he can turn Mo Farah into a sub 2:05 marathoner
Why don't we discuss it after his 4 year suspension.

Agree. NOP had a pretty good Olympics, too. AlSal is a great coach. No doubt about it. That's why Jenkins was smart to go with him even though the LRC crowd has already convicted AlSal.

Jemima Sumgong's husband is a great coach as well. What's your point?
It's not hard to do with PEDs.
Getting Osako to run as well as he did is no small feat.

Always have to give a tip of the hat to the history of Oregon's training for heat. The late great Bill McChesney put an exercise bike in the sauna at Oregon and trained for an NCAAs in hot weather (Houston, I believe), when the rest of the team bombed in the heat, despite a terrible injury history, Bill ran pretty well... Track and Field news mentioned... Evidently Alberto paid attention too!
I don't know who says Alberto can't coach a marathon. He can, that should not be disputed.
Now my problem with Al is...some of his "methods".
As soon as he started selecting for marathon talent things turned around.
