FLN and NXN predictions: YOUR TOP 3 - time to put up watchoutxcrankings

One of the real quality "team" frontrunners at NXN is Boone's Adam Barnard, who ran 9:01 3200 a couple of weeks ago and then won NXN-SE last week. Look for him near the front--he runs well on grass, on rolling, hills, in wet conditions. He has the wheels to get out fast if necessary but also the patience to wait if able. He's very well-coached and is a team-first kind of kid. That's how that program operates. I'd like to see them go better than what Watchout and Meylan have them--17th. Could happen since they're not at PM. I think that the changed venue will enable teams to run much more like they would normally.

I had never heard of Barnard until he ran faster than Hunter and 1 second slower than McGorty's course record at Nike Southeast. I'm so confused. Who the heck is he?!

4:10 mile at NBON. 1:53 for 800. Nearly qualified for FLN last year when he got 12th in a shade over 15:00 at McAlpine. He's gotten steadily better over the course of the season.

I do know Tanner. He's a great kid. He loves his team and loves to have fun. They joke around a lot together. He is someone who makes the hard workouts fun.

My god, Tanner wrecks people. Dressel tried to make a move on him and could barely finish at WA State meet. Barnard tried to move onto Tanner's shoulder and had to crawl across the line.

Barnard frankly had no reason trying to go with Anderson, that's why he died so badly (still finished only 14 seconds back). He was obviously going way harder than Anderson was.Dressel made a huge move at the WA state meet and even Anderson said was close to breaking, but Dressel broke himself first. Dressel has been focused on FLN, just like last year (where he beat everyone from FLW quite handily).

This is the #1 reason to go to FLN, besides it being the much better meet.

The hypocrites who back you going to NxN would very quickly stab you in the back if you took the opportunity to do anything else, and stayed away from their meet. The best route is to never even consider their meet in the first place, because if you change your mine, you will likewise be thrashed and stabbed in the back.

Maton and Dressel have teammates that want them to run for the national title is San Diego. Good on them

He had every reason to try to go with Anderson. He was in the lead group in the biggest race of his life riding a high of three straight top-end races. He went as hard as he could until he ran headfirst into the wall--and still finished fifth. Give the guy props for having a pair and trying to win the race.

Tamagno and Maton's teams DID have a chance at winning NXN, no disrespect to FM who came together as a team and crushed it. With their respective frontrunners Brea and Summit were projected as top 5 teams. Both teams looked deflated at the meet and ran as such.

Placing "high" at FL is meaningless if they don't win. Nobody remembers who got 2nd place and honestly it doesn't matter. You either win or you didn't.

If you think teams getting a free pair of shoes, a uniform, a back pack, and some sweats is what will make them happy you need to do some soul searching; that stuff is meaningless. Have a connection with your teammates and raising each other up is what matters.

These kids, their parents, and maybe even their coaches if they truly supported the individual aspirations, simply don't get it. Burning your teammates like that is pathetic.
