Long things short. I made a bet with one of my friends saying I would be able to run a sub 2:35 marathon in April 2015. Now, I should add that I’ve run very little during in the period December-July (probably less than 20k per week) and I gained about 7kgs from a situation in which I was already some kgs overweight (about 5kg). So in total I’m about 12kg more than my racing weight but I plan to lose at least 8-9kg.
I’ve never run a full marathon, while I’ve run a HM some years ago just for fun and easy sub 1:20. My PB are 16:05 and 33:15 for 5k and 10k but last autumn I ran a lot for my standards managing to have some 120+ Km weeks and I’m pretty confident I was in 32:xx shape.
I’m slowly building up mileage, starting about 1 month ago and I’m already around 70k per week and I plan to build up to 18 weeks before the race when I start a twisted version Pfitzinger's training plan in which I plan to add Canova-style long fast runs and some specific blocks. I’m planning to reach 150-160k(100miles) weeks with a decent amount of quality.
I’m pretty confident I will be able to run sub 2:35, but I have just some doubts because I’ve never run a full marathon. The course I want to run is pretty flat and fast.
What do you think? Do you believe it is feasible to run sub 2:35 as a debut given my PBs and the current situation?
Thank you
