Someone with too much time on their hands went through finisher photos to determine the winner of the non-carbon assisted category. AKA The peoples champ!

That tweet is funny because he is indeed wearing Cliftons but it says Arahis. Though it does not change the accomplishment. As an aside, I was running near a young woman who could have been a teenager, but maybe early 20s... Anyway, she was wearing Saucony Kilkenny. Old school. Don't know how she finished but was running mid 2:50 pace at the time.
I've come across this in a couple other places and love it. I think it's a cool thing to know but I do wonder how anyone found this out. Did whoever it was do a search or was it just something they stumbled across? And I love knowing that someone ran in the Kilkenny. If you're at all of a minimalist inclination it's a very versatile shoe. In the years before Camille Heron hit it big with sponsorship and was posting here she often mentioned that she ran in the Kilkenny, which by the way, was named for a beer that was on tap at a pub near the Chinese factory where it was produced.
quite some time since my last marathon in the Saucony Type A, must have been in 2017. Would be interesting how much of a difference (apart from the pain behind km 30) they actually make. Maybe i'll try once more, just for curiosity ;-)
I ran my marathon PB in a beat-up pair of Adidas Boston 6s. In retrospect, my at-the-time anti-supershoes position feels kinda dumb but I think it's cool to have a PB without the shoes.
Might be able to run 2:30 in real racing shoes instead of trainers
So, I posted about this yesterday on the boards (well before this thread)....
Apparently, the guy who posted it on X and a friend of his split up the first 200+ until they found it. I guess they did photos and video analysis.
I missed your post. One of my son's found it on X and told me a couple days ago. I can see this as a way to fill in time if someone is having slow time at work.
I run a 2:42 in Nike Frees. No plans to go carbon fiber clown shoes any time soon.
Shoes are available for everyone. You boomers complaining about this everyday is getting old. Imagine how silly someone would sound if they only raced on cinders and bragged about a 4:20 mile because new rubber tracks are cheating. That’s how you all act.
Kind of surprising to me that you have to go that deep into the results to find someone without a plated shoe. 225th overall, 2:34.

Exactly who is complaining here?

Definitely agree here. They said carbon, so that means nobody was wearing something like an endorphin speed? Or just anyone who would like a "supercritical foam" like hyperion tempo/max or the new Mach 6.
Running that fast in Cliftons is indeed quite the accomplishment.
It is NOT a fast shoe.
You can't get non carbon fiber racing flats anymore... So it's those or training shoes (like the Clifton or kinvara). So really that person found the first person to run the race in a training shoe. Bet you'd have seen similar time in 2017 for the first training in boston
Running 2:34 makes you think he would have at least basic knowledge that cliftons are not for running quick. Good job to him, but can't help and say that he probably would have ran 2:29 in alphaflys or adios pro 3, or something similar.

That doesn’t say as much about fast/slow shoes as it does the ubiquity of quality carbon racers. I can’t understand why anyone with an ounce of sense would race in Hoka Cliftons. :-)
Maybe he wasn't racing?

Mine is in non-super shoes, too. No specific stance, I just don't respond well to carbon plated shoes!
Wow! Not only do the super shoes make you faster, they make all other shoes much slower!
