A very fast and competitive 10K. Better timing, and you wear supershoes. Of course the time counts, and adidas I’m sure would take great care of him, hype up American road 10K WR attempt etc. Can go to Saint Moritz after or whatever, and get some races in in May.
I agree that Nico Young should run the 10000m this upcoming week if he can recover from NCAAs and run the event at US Trials. If he can recover I wouldn't be surprised if at least a 27:05.
Please stop tossing around the word God, like it's just another word. This thread should be banned just for the title alone😳
He will not get better conditions to run a 10,000 before the trials with such a quality field. He just can sit back and follow for 20 laps. If he hits the standard he won’t have to race again all spring, but he will have more options and taking time off is one of them. Otherwise he has to go chase that time somewhere else. He could even redshirt track. I say he has to do this race.
if you want to make the Olympic 10k team, unfortunately you have to run a ridiculous standard.
Why can’t World Athletics make qualifying standards more interesting for the 10k?
how about:
you make the US (any country)10k Olympic team if you finish top 3 at the trials AND…. You are top 5 at NCAA XC, or you win the NCAA indoor 5k, or you win the 3k at world indoors, or finish the indoor season with the fastest 5k time, or you break 61 in the half, or Win US CC, or if you finish top 25 at World XC! ???
Running sub 27 is such a niche race situation…it’s not really racing, it’s just time trialing. I am sorry but it’s boring.
Chris Solinksy’s sub 27 was exciting because it was the result of trying to beat Galen Rupp and Sam Chelenga

They should be incentivizing participation at World XC. Top 25 seems generous but top 15/20 at Worlds XC is fair. Sub-27 is fair if your country doesn’t have trials, but to me if they do contest trials I’d allow sub-13 plus 10K trials or sub-59:30 plus 10K trials. It feels silly that there could be a Kenyan finish top 3 who doesn’t have the standard let’s say. It is far less likely though with the World XC/HM pathways.
I agree the title of this thread should be banned. There is only one God...Nico should probably go pro. I am sure if he runs anything under 27:10 for 10000m if he runs at the 10,the offers will be coming in
Payton Jordan could be, but Nico could be the best person in that race and have to do the work himself. Next Saturday, he might not even be in the top 5. I can't think of a better way to run his first ever 10,000 and maybe set the NCAA in the process.

Payton Jordan would be a good opportunity. With pacers and pacing lights, a quality field isn’t necessary.
I’m in agreement that redshirting track would be a good decision as it really does look like he could make the olympic team.
Another thing to consider is when he makes the time vs. when the olympic trials are. He's got what? 13-14 weeks till the trials now or wait 6 weeks later till Payton Jordan. Mike Smith would be licking his chops if he had a 14 week training cycle to work with vs. 8. Things are happening right now.
