“Kipchoge said he did not sleep for three days before the Tokyo Marathon in March as a result of the threats. He finished 10th in the race, his worst position since making his marathon debut in 2013.”
If kipchoge truly didn’t sleep for 3 days before the Tokyo marathon then maybe getting very little sleep just 1 day before a race (like 4-5 hours) doesn’t actually make a huge difference.
Catch 22. With his fitness, there has to be a really good reason for him to come in tenth, but if he says what the problem was to explain why (ear blockage in London, leg wasn’t moving in Boston, didn’t sleep in Tokyo), he’s just giving excuses. What else can a man do? Always win?
Hopefully people realize that kipchoge had absolutely nothing to do with Kiptums death. If you think kipchoge had to do with kiptums death then you may as well try to prove the earth is flat too and that the moon landing never happened.

People with better fitness relative to their competitors lose all the time in the marathon at all levels. It’s a grueling race and a lot of things need to go right to run your best. Kipchoge publicly blaming unprovable extraneous factors any time he doesn’t come in first is dumb and borders on poor sportsmanship.

I like how the first thing everyone talks about is Kipchoge being a supposed sore loser rather than calling attention to the fact that his family received death threats based on unfounded conspiracy accusations... As expected of LRC bottom of the barrel human trash.

Those factors don’t need to be provable. Many of his fans just want to hear from him as to what happened, more than just the non-response response “today just wasn’t my day”. Those factors are also not “extraneous” because ears, legs, and sleep are definitely vital to running well.

Two things can be true at once. It goes without saying that anyone that actually threatened him is off their rocker and in the wrong. I wasn’t under the impression that need to be said, but maybe a high minded thinker like you needs that spelled out.
