I really like it actually. There are 18 year old Africans running Diamond Leagues, but we want to make sure our high schoolers are only competing against each other. Same reason that it's stupid to get mad at them not going to State: If they're better than their competition, let them race better competition. Literally what does anyone gain by not letting high schoolers compete in open races? We already have a separate category for HS only race record, and literally no one cares about it. Is it Martin in the mile, GF in the 2 mile, and Derrick in the 5k?

It really does appear as if the shoes were clutch tonight, as if they were able to respond as needed to break the record, and I refuse to believe that they are embedded with artificial intelligence, although something is going on which would render one curious as to whether the shoes were showing signs of something unanticipated. Congrats to Lex and I would be remiss if I failed to offer a sincere attaboy to the shoes.
Y’all really need to open your eyes and realize how many normal parents out there wouldn’t be flying their kid every weekend to literally run in circles. It’s preposterous and you couldn’t convince even pretty good HS runners parents for them to do that just so they could shave a few seconds off. It’s a major major privilege people aren’t acknowledging and the fact the Young’s don’t thank their parents is selfish af bc this wouldn't happen without them or the mentors/guidance of good teammates and incredible coaches. NP is selfish thanks to Aaron and these twins
sure they may be privileged, but that's not something they should feel shameful or guilty about. If I had 3 kids who were the best runners in the nation and I happened to be well off, then you can bet your behind that I'll financially support the crap out of them. What's the point of being privileged if you don't take advantage of it. Each of them are literally 1 in 10 million.
Well I guess Lex is lucky that we award records to people who run the fastest, not those who have the least privilege. Are you out here trying to get affirmative action for high school records?
This is such a lame excuse. Nobody needs to travel every weekend, just need to travel to a handful of decent opportunities that challenge one's ability level. Small schools and small towns are not a deal breaking limitation. In my tiny hometown I was practically a celebrity for just being the best runner in the region, if I had any chance of breaking a national record I could've fundraised travel costs without much issue.
Well certainly the shoes rose to the occasion tonight, providing just enough to break a venerable record which lasted almost 3 weeks. It is almost as if the shoes know that they will be breaking records frequently now, so do a Serge Bubka and shave a few seconds so that the shoes can break another record soon enough. The shoes are now the story, but let us offer congrats to the Lexus who ran in them, almost like a well trained Willie Shoemaker on a fast horse.
I'm seeing Lex has raced once outside of California this year, and it was New Balance Nationals in New York, and I think most normal parents would try really hard to send their kid to nationals. They also stayed there for a few days so they could sightsee in New York. They also did WJXC, and even though Lex didn't qualify, both he and Leo went and Lex did a bunch of video stuff. So they're not flying out every weekend, they're not going literally to just run in circles, and any good parent would try to fly their kid out.
Plus, I don't know why you think people don't acknowledge their privilege, or that they don't thank their parents. The Youngs have said how important their family/coaches have been plenty of times, and every summer people complain about how privileged NP is for being able to do a summer camp at altitude.
In summary: 8/10, solid troll. Extra points for dedication and a pretty solid foundation. To get a 10, I think you need to move past just the money privilege thing. It's a good foundation, but you need to build off of it while still seeming genuine. It's too obvious when you harp on the same thing for so long.
Let us give Lex the credit. These are HS kids. Let them get the credit. It wasn’t easy I am sure of that. Hell this kid could probably run 14:10 in Army boots. This kid is talented and hardworking. Give him the credit.
Puberty is awkward, and there’s no denying it. Between the voice changes, hair growth and acne, the change can be overwhelming for middle schoolers. However, for many American children, the average age of puberty is closer to...
Absolutely. You get better by competing against the best competition you can handle. It's amazingly dumb to age-limit ability or to act like taking on bigger challenges is borderline cheating.
