You believe Kiplimo ran 27:26 at age 15. I am not so sure.
What are you going to say when he’s setting the marathon world record his birth certificate says he is 37? Nobody thought EK was 18 in 2003 when he won gold, but now they are stuck explaining how he ran 2:01 when he’s 42🤣

Just re-watched the mixed relay race. Stewart McSweyn and Ollie Hoare had poor races. Jess Hull had the most impressive woman's race. If USA had fielded a better men's team we would have medaled.

Ollie is still recovering from getting Nugused in New York….
Just left the course. Best athletic event I have been to. The best won.
Storm closed the venue however as luck had it the men’s race could be seen finishing. He is a worthy winner.
The women’s senior race wow. She started to wobble after the chicane watching across the three parallel race course lanes. Came around the bend and pulled h will she get there. The winner though ran the tangents; why do officials of a team run out of the course. Did they place Gidey at risk of disqualification?
The junior races should have been clipped one lap ie four k and six k. A young Kiwi lad came out of the billabong with his eyes closing and sure enough collapsed going up the hill.
Giday today made the exactly same mistake she made on her marathon debut. That is she failed to respect the race. The competition is not just against fellow athletes, its also against the race itself.Perhaps the lesson will start sinking in after this. What a race!
Due to the storm making the event go off earlier I only saw the last half of the mens race. On the replay, when re-watching all the events, I shut down the stream after seeing Gidey with such a commanding lead during the last lap, only to go on here and see that she lost! Insane races. Also very impressive from all of the mens medalists, you never see the worlds finest as winded as here. The Kiplimo/Cheptegei duo is already legendary-tier.

On a tough day it was good to see one athlete being able to celebrate down the finishing lane.
I saw a young kiwi athlete struggle into and out of the billabong section. Eyes rolling and closing I was a metre or so on the exit side of the billabong. He collapsed a little further up the hill. I hope he is well and recovered.
Gidey was visible across the three lanes and she was in trouble if not before after exiting the tyre chicanes running up hill. Chebet was clearly closing. Besides Gidey being gassed, Chebet ran the tangents. She ran the shortest possible route from the top of the finishing straight. Ran a near straight angled line from the bend into the straight to the finish impressive thinking at that pace.
Gidey was looking back too much in final stages of race. Maybe if she had not done this she would have collapsed after crossing finish line not before.
Also, no kangaroos on the course was a little disappointing.
