1:19:37 for 25k
Broken wide open. 3 men clear at 30km.
So nice to actually see the break for once (take note, WMM).
2:03:09 overall at 30k
Men's race is heating up now. Down to three men just past 30k -- world champ Tamirat Tola, Kelvin Kiptum (58:42 half pb, making his debut), and Gabriel Geay of Tanzania (2:04:55 pb, 7th at 2022 Worlds). 2:03:09 pace through 30k.
3 of the leading men look so strong.
I predict Kelvin Kiptum will be in a world of hurt in 20 minutes.
Kiptum is straight up giving Tola and Geay the business! And now he's pushing the pace, dropping Tola!
Kiptum now making a big move at the 1:35 mark. He's dropped Tola and is dropping Geay as well. Debut record is 2:03:34 by Getaneh Molla but Kiptum could break that today.
Kiptum fed up of doing the work alone, takes off
Is the app actually working for anyone? Tracking has been down since 5k for me
I predicted Tola third or worse when he was leading. I would suggest Kiptum is going to finish 1-2, but I dont think it will be easy.....he might fade, here.....eventually.
Damn Kiptum with the long run for home.

Gidey 1:35:24 through 30 km
Gidey 5 second inside WR pace at 30k. Here she comes.
Gidey on a 2:14:10 pace at 30K. Getting close to WR pace.
Gidey 1:35:24 through 30 km
5 seconds under the WR.
LET'S GO!
Letesenbet will run 2:13:30.
Two athletes under WR pace!
I'm not sure of the historical track record of appealing to a higher power at the 21-mile mark of a marathon, but I guess it can't hurt to try!
