You don't let Jakob hang at the back and work his way into his rhythm.
You send out a decoy to set a ridiculous early pace, then after 3-4 laps, when everyone wants to settle in - you attack and steal a break.
You don't let up from there. Obviously, you are going to suffer badly for an extended period of time - and you'll likely slow in the closing stages of the race, but so will everybody else.
Top form Cheptegai, Kiplimo, Barega and Areqawi could pull this off - just a matter of them having the balls to give it a crack.

Almost want to reenact the kip keino Jim Ryan race where Kips teammate acted as a rabbit and the two of them gapped ryun enough that he lost contact. You need a teammate to do that otherwise you would reenact the Bannister landy empire games race instead. One problem is to break Jakob you'd need a sick fast pace so finding a rabbit who could hold close to wr 5k pace for 2 miles and not fancy himself as a contender could be a tall order.

Why would Jakob chase a decoy? He’s just as smart as you and would also know if it was a ridiculous pace. Who is going to attack after a ridiculously fast first 3-4 laps?
This race is an absolute enigma still. Dudes were running 12:46 with a 54 second final lap, but then spent the next 5 years running 13:30 championship races while a 3:28 guy sat on their shoulders.

I'm stunned recalling how fast races were pre-Farah, then how much voodoo was apparently in play making the races fun runs.
Katir did better than all the African (and North American) of the final of the world championship Eugene.
The only way to beat Jakob in the 5000m is to improve endurance and training for distances. Katir wasb't able to outkick the Norvergian because he had in less in his pool in the last round than the Norvergian.
Remember what Sifan Hassan was doing to Kipyeon in 2019/2020 and the change that happened after 2021.
No, the only way to beat Jakob is to have comparable natural talent. In the 5000m, he is fast and strong and tough to beat. Fisher might be able to beat Jakob in the 10000m but he doesn’t have the speed to ever take him in the 5000m.
The tactic to beat J.I. in a championship 5000m is rather simple and straight forward: 1) One man or a team of men even pace first ten laps, 63 seconds per lap or a bit faster, sub-10:30 split at 4000m. 2) From 4000m to 4600m, sub-90 seconds. 3) J.I. will not be able to race sub-55.5 from 4600m to 5000m.
You are correct, a superior 5000m man will be the one to beat J.I. in a championship race. The race does not have to be a sub-12:50 5000m race but superior 5000m men will need to drain the kick out of J.I. I have been outkicked in numerous races 2 miles and longer on the track and XC by guys with inferior 200m & 400m speed. J.I.'s kick can be drained out of him. This is not magic.
No one will drain the kick out of J.I. in a 5000m race unless 4000m is split sub-10:30 AND 4600m split sub-12.

I agree. Even then, though, he's still very hard to beat. Remember that 12:48 last year. He has both the speed as well as the aerobic capacity.

J.I.'s 12:48.xx was not in a championship race with prelim round. If elite 5000m men need to skip 10000 in order to be fresh for a fast 5000m versus J.I., they will be ready. I don't believe J.I. will have the luxury of racing in a 13(+) 5000 again at Olympics or W.C.
In a 5k he can drop the hammer from 2-3 laps out. That far out “tactics” are thrown out the window. You simply need to be fitter and no one is rate now. If chooses he could easily get double gold in the 5/10k over the next decade.
Next person to beat Jacob is Thierry Ndikumwenayo! After witnessing what he did in Monaco’s 3000m running 7:25 like that and still looked fresh at the end! Will see!

100% right. And the Kenyan crews of the 90's etc were masters at it (Kirui, Ondieki, Chelimo, Kiptanui). It's not a huge secret they use to specifically train this way on long tempo runs (constantly putting in small, temporary surges) with this exact goal in mind. And of course it's risky - it's the hardest way to run anything but if you are prepared for it and your opponents aren't then you will suffer the least and give yourself the best chance to win. For all Farahs brilliance and dominance (irrespective of how he achieved it), I could never understand how all those guys around him let him do exactly what he wanted at every championship from 2011-2017 and they only managed to pip him once at the end of his career over the shorter 5000m. But back to Jakob and right now, if this trend of casual 63/4's continue then he is going to become the greatest 15/5 guy of all time and probably even more successful over the longer distance
You forgot a very simple factor : who can decide the tactic, is the strongest, not the weakest in the race. That's the reason because Jakob can't be beated, but can lose himself doing some mistake. The reality is that, in 5000m, Jakob can't have competitors able to have the same finish of 1500m (like Weightman) : all the runners in 5000m are very much slower than Jakob, and not more resistant at high speed.

I think it's easier said than done. A 5000m is not a short distance. It's hard to make sure it's fast every time, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate. And for doing rounds, I'm sure JI has enough recovery ability as demonstrated time after time.
