Marcell Jacobs is the king of European sprinting.
The Italian Olympic champ who has been dogged by injuries in 2022 won the European Athletics Championship 100m in a meet record 9.95, as defending champ Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain was second in 9.99. British champ Jeremiah Azu got the bronze in 10.13. Israel Olatunde set a Irish record in 6th in 10.17.
Questions about Jacobs’ fitness disappeared in the semi-finals when Jacobs ran 10.00.
He came back less than 2 hours later to get the gold.
