Gotta say, this is the best marathon coverage I’ve seen in a long time (and not just because the pandemic means it’s been a long time). Especially happy that they’re focusing a lot on the 2nd women’s group too.

Is Jared Ward still there? He didn't pop up on the live results through 15k.

It’s $120 for a year. Just pay. My goodness. Hard for a sport to thrive with “fans” who are unwilling to offer any support aside from trying to watch pirated streams of events.
Seriously!! Or pay $12/month and skip a couple trips to Chipotle every other week. Everybody complaining that they don't get everything for free...yet they want top-notch coverage, and the athletes to be taken care of & compensated...smh
Very true, after I saw a couple "why are y'all so cheap?" comments about this stream pricing recently, I realized my excitement and desire to see these people race was greater than my desire to hold onto $13 right now. That's the relative comparison that's relevant, not that far more popular sports are free to view on a screen.

If that split mat is accurate, they are bang on 2:09:00 pace.

$12 is the cost of 2 beers at your local pub ... which you piss away literally within a few hours.
I guess the guy making the crazy complaining isn’t buying the next round..?
think I saw CJ Albertson falling off the pace. Bummer
very ecxited to see Biwott still in the lead pack looking good

Yep, well worth it. NBC & ESPN should take note.
Ward is still there. This coverage really is excellent.

He's still there. Just not on timing site apparently.

Yes. Brendan Gregg too.
Yes. He is in lead group.
Agreed. This is the best American broadcast team that I think I've ever heard. Well, not Lagat, he's bad, but Desi and the play-by-play guy are excellent and the camera work is fantastic so far.

Yes, it does look like Albertson is dropping back.
Free coverage here^^
This is maybe the first time in YEARS that there was good coverage for a US road race. I understand you want to support the sport but the content they put out is not worth what they're asking for.
I get zero sense that Hall & Taylor are in any way working together. Almost strange to see. Hall seems to not be comfortable doing any tucking in.
Men 15:11 last 5k, everyone looks to be smooth in that front pace.
I love Ian Butler out there, jankiest running form ever!
Kellyn and Sara in an odd pack of men, feels very similar to big city marathon races.
Mason Ferlic Pacing looks to be thinking "hmm, why haven't I done a half yet, this is easy"
Kiera D'amato looks like she could push a stroller and keep up just fine in that second pack, she's in full mom hat high arms mode (idk if she is a mom or not).
Damn. Was really hoping Albertson could pull off 2:10

This is a myopic view. You cannot build a fan base if the only way to see is to pay $120 for a year. My three favorite sports are cycling, sumo wrestling, and distance running.
In both of the first two cases, I stumbled upon coverage of the TdF about 20 years ago on some cable channel, and got hooked, and then with sumo, a similar thing only on YouTube. Had either of those been paywall blocked, I wouldn't have found them and would not likely be involved in those sports.
Distance running is boring as hell for most people, and even if it was free might only have 1k live viewers. You can't get people interested in the sport if there is no way to see a live tele-casted event.
The issue is that no big company wants to sink money into good production for a few years in the hopes that viewers will eventually come. Distance running will forever be in this weird position where it's extremely popular regarding numbers of people that actually do it, but with almost no popularity at the professional level.
Nick Symmonds is the only runner I can think of that is actually trying to do some interesting things to build popularity, but of course it is also self serving for his company. But still...where's everyone else? Gwen and "Squigs" doing the occasional instagram post pushing some product isn't really going to do much.
Droddy even throws his cups off to the side with a little flair. It’s hard not to like that guy. Ian Butler hanging tough up front with his 15:02 5000m PR (he has gone 2:16:xx)
