First off all, thank you Reebok for sponsoring the guys and thank you Chris Fox for coaching it. Chris is fantastic and knows what he's doing as shown by his time at Syracuse and his 1-3 finish today as Colin Bennie also broke 2:10:00 for 3rd.
And Martin, your story is unreal. I don't know how in the world someone with a kid goes to med school full time, treats Covid patients and runs 2:08:59. Truly amazing time management skills.
But to me, today was a big win for the second time this month for the adidas super shoes. Think about, Reebok doesn't have a super shoe so they let their guys wear whatever they want. Very few runners have this option. What did Hehir choose? He chose adidas.
LRC note: Rojo forgot that adidas owns Reebok
When I was watching Hehir hold on for the win, there appeared to me to be a ton of up and down motion. I called JOnatahn Gault up after race and said, "That was fun to watch but you gotta admit that was a huge win for the super shoes. He looked like he was on a pogo stick." Jon said something along the lines of, "I have to admit there was a a lot of hang time."
Then Jon told me he was wearing adidas.
So in Valencia, 3 of the 4 winners were adidas and now Hehir runs 2:08 in adidas. Does this show adidas shoes are better? Or might it simply be if they are even, a company is going to encourage their guys not to wear Nike.
