Not religious myself but I have no problem with her thanking someone after her races.
I think there is a gulf of difference between thanking, say, mom and dad or a great college coach, and thanking imaginary superbeings because "I'm so special OF COURSE the creator of the entire universe cares about my track! And tough luck about all the other suffering hoomans gawd doesn't care about; they're not blessed and special like I AM!!"
The stuff is incredibly cringeworthy and I root for her defeat at worlds.

If only you knew everything about everyone that you like, you might not like anyone.
Maybe I have missed a previous post but 48.74s for Sydney is mighty impressive considering she has only starting focusing on the event in the last 2 months or so. Approximately a 1 second improvement on her previous best. Also the 4th best time for the women’s 400m since 2006! Given she’s still only 23 it will be exciting to see how much further she can lower it.
She just barely missed the American record. Will she break it this summer?
I also hope to see our women's team take a shot at the 4x400 records. From the pool of Wilson, Diggs, Mu and Muhammed who should be the three on the relay besides McLaughlin-Levrone? Or am I missing someone else?
Tokyo Olympic Team splits:
Sydney McLaughlin 50.21 Allyson Felix 49.38 Dalilah Muhammad 48.94 Athing Mu 48.32

My apologies if my argument was not clear. I do not think that everybody should believe the same things as me. My issue is when people claim preferential treatment by a deity without any supporting evidence whatsoever. Here's a very unpleasant example of this phenomenon in action a few years ago. in my town, a truck plowed into a building, killing one person and injuring the other. The father of the injured person posted on social media, that they knew that God was looking out for her, and had spared her. I hope you would agree that is a disgusting thing to say, because it implies that the person who died was not being looked after by God, if God had any kind of agency in this matter whatsoever. Obviously, this is a more extreme example than people thanking God after winning a race, but it's the same principle, and it's highly illogical and unpleasant.
Because of your bias against religious people, you make unwarranted interpretations of what their words mean. When someone thanks God for helping them after a race, they are not thanking God for preferring them over the other athletes. They are thanking God for inspiring them to be their best. Perhaps all of the athletes are equally inspired by God. But one of them is more talented than the others and wins the race. Then that athlete thanks God for inspiring them to realize their talent. I was not super religious when I was young and racing on the track. But I found, especially in the beginning when I didn't know what I could do out there, that I would pray to God for help when I was kicking on the last lap because I was dying and barely hanging on. I turned out to be the guy with the huge kick and ran a lot of people down, and was never outkicked on the track by anyone. I thanked God for the help after every race. Perhaps there wasn't any God there helping me, but the concept of God in my mind helped me focus on digging the maximum effort out of myself. I did a lot of things that I thought were impossible, simply because I asked God to help me find more inside of myself.
Regarding the truck accident, the father is thankful that his daughter was spared. He doesn't know why she was spared rather than the other person because that is "God's plan" which is a mystery to us. He just knows that he is fortunate enough to have received a gift from God. He's probably grieving for the person who died and almost certainly does not feel that God wasn't watching out for that person.
There is nothing illogical about any of this; it's just your own biased interpretation of what these people are actually saying. If you genuinely wanted to understand this, you could speak to a priest and you would probably be shocked to find out that priests are highly intelligent, educated in philosophy and logic, and quite interesting to talk to.
This is where your argument fails: when something good happens you thank God because he had a hand in it but when something bad happens, we cannot know God's plan. You cannot have it both ways. This IS entirely illogical.
Sorry, her fanboys are leaving her in droves because she has a strong Christian faith and gives thanks after her runs.
Her race video has 208k views in 9 hours. The next highest video uploaded last night has 51k views. She is the biggest track star right now.
I'm not a fan of her hyphenated last name though. It's too long.
Amen, (no pun intended, lol). If you are a well-known person who makes money off your recognizability. JUST KEEP YOUR NAME UNCHANGED. Its common sense.
Why track gals in particular are so fascinated with the hyphenated names, I can't understand. I roll my eyes everytime see them. And I'm sure as *&^(* never going to refer to her by such a tongue twister.
Don't sleep on Salwa Eid Naser 'cuz she appears to be back. Naser ran 49.78 about a month ago. Her PB is 48.13 at 2019 Doha WC. Hope she peaks again in time for Budapest. Would love to see these two go to the wall in a final.
Hobbs just needs to keep plugging away if he has a disappointing year next year then maybe consider a change but I doubt even then. Ferlic and Hobbs felt like for sure things for Worlds I don’t even think fitness was either of their problems it was tactics going into the race both narrowly missing the team.

You may have aptly named yourself diabolically as you seem hellbent on stirring up trouble.
Sorry, Im calling out these phonies who pretend like theyre these “hate stops here” and “inclusivity “, when they are the true haters.
McLaughlin, Diggs, Wilson, and others comport themselves with class, and great sportsmanship on the track and probably not incoincidentally, are faithful Christians, and not afraid to outwardly voice their thanks for their happiness in life.
It has triggered numerous unhappy people on here. Thats not stirring up trouble at all.

Dude, her time run at Doha was drug based. Without drugs, she will not run such a time again.
She's only 23? Jesus it feels like she's been around forever
She has. Since high school. She was one of the youngest ever athletes at the Olympics. I seem to recall she was 15 years old at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
