Eliud Kipchoge repeated as Olympic Marathon champ and cemented his status as the marathon GOAT as Galen Rupp was 8th.

Suguru Osako destroyed Galen Rupp over the final 400 of the 10,000 and then became a legend by running the B heat of the 10,000 immediately afterward.  In the steeples, Courtney Frerichs looked great in her second steeple of the year while Sean McGorty did not take a step forward.

We expected the first Marathon Grand Championship to be the most dramatic race of the year and the men's race more than lived up to the hype as it had an incredible blowup, an incredible finish and much more.

We can't wait for Saturday night's race which is super high in quality. Only 20 Americans in history have broken 2:10 in the marathon and only four have ever broken 2:08; the MGC will feature 21 sub-2:10 guys, six of whom have broken 2:08.

Osako said the goal was a "solid effort at marathon pace."

Cam Levins started out with a bang in the first big pro meet in the US in 2015.
