Always impressed by people that will take a stand for what they believe in, especially when it costs them money. The vast majority will toss their convictions by the wayside for a couple dollars in their pocket.

Yea, I was a big Coburn fan in like 2011, but she lost some of her appeal somewhere in the last two years. Koko is the new shiny object
This is what you would call a performative contradiction. You are commenting on a story about Coburn, a GOLD and SILVER MEDAL WINNING STEEPLER, not competing in the DL.

Where else can she run steeples? If she doesn't run steeples, what will she run?
She just never seemed to finish fast in the flats to be successful.
Maybe she's switching to Mud Runs?
There is life outside the Diamond League! A few of the World Continental Tour meetings will have steeples as will some of the other good European meetings.
She boycotts the continental tour,too.
Well this thread dried up quick. Clearly no ones cares.

She looks like a giant next to KK. And she probably weighs all of 115.
This shows that KK really has a tiny physis, even if she gained 10kg of fat she would still be tiny.
Anyway, I don't know what Coburn hopes to achieve. If she "boycotts" DL and Continental meetings she hurts both herself AND the steeple because these races will obviously be less attractive without one of the best athletes.
KK is listed as 5’9” and EC as 5’8” and yet EC looks to be a lot taller in the photo
The only thing less interesting to me than the lost steeple races is people not running in them. This protest is a useless tool because nobody will miss her.

Meh. It’s an Olympics year. NBD
She would maybe run 1 diamond league, right?
Probably just aligned schedule-wise.
So basically she's now a honorary member of BTC.

I completely disagree.
For one, I'm a Coburn hater. I trash her any chance I get. Especially when she races in non-steeple events and gets crushed (like yesterday). That said, I think it's badass that she's doing this. Put your money where your mouth is.
Secondly, outside of Beatrice, who is a bigger pull in the steeple than her (male or female)? Not many. She's not Bolt, but she is the darling of steeple and everyone knows it.

A stand??
It's an olympic year. As it stands now she barely runs the DLs anyway.
In 2016, she only ran 3 DL races and one of those was the Pre. She's not taking a stand, she's just making a show of taking a stand without any real sacrifice. She's a bozo
2019 - she only ran 3 races too.
She got her ass kicked by Purrier yesterday and looked really bad once again in a flat mid-d event...
Looks like she is running a road 10k
Man that's rough. I'm not in favor of the DL cutting those events but I don't see how this will make a difference.
I applaud her taking a stand when it may hurt her bank account.
And as usual, some losers on here will find a reason to attack any runner.
She is only speeding up the decline of distance running. They are eliminating events that are not as popular. If big name runners don't compete, even the die hards won't be interested.
