Great! I’m happy to see athletes stand for what they believe in against WA instead of just complaining on social media but then going along with it.
What a dumb decision.
If there is a vote . I vote for koko.
Dumb decision. No one will know or care if she's not there, outside of a few hundred die-hard fans.
A lot of athletes are probably going to skip a lot of DL eventsin this olympic year.
Cheptegai said in a interview that he only planned to race the HM championship before the Olympics so he will skips the DL completely.

And she will be passing up pay days too.
Everyone is an armchair critic. She gets less money, lower profile and it's her choice, her life.
It was Coburn and Frerichs that turned me on to Steeplechase with their incredible 1-2 finish.
I wonder if a decent portion of her contract bonuses was for diamond league performance and with that gone there is a large amount of money off the table.
Still seems odd though.
Cool?
Steeple isnt DL anyway and not like she's actually good enough at the 1500, 3000, or 5000 to actually beat people.
Chepkoech won by a margin in the steeple in Zurich, then a week later gets crushed by actual 5000m runners in Brussels. I went to 6 Diamond Leagues last year and to Doha and women's steeple was probably the most boring event, watching someone not fit enough to compete with other distance/mid d beat up on the same women week in week out.
Couldn't agree less with people criticizing her decision. Why shouldn't she take a stand against the DL demoting her event? It's an insult to her and all hurdlers (you're welcome, Malmo), and it's just simply a bad decision.
And of course people will notice. She's one of the most valuable assets to pro track worldwide.
This is what happens when your life is too comfortable.

The other course would be to participate and showcase the event by putting up great performances and perhaps getting the DL to change its mind.
¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ Emma Coburn probably won't have to work a day in her life c/o to family wealth. Good that she has the luxury to take a stand and only risk missing a little vacay/play money.
So who's the lady next to her in that pic?
They (the governing T&F body) are ruining the sport, taking the steeplechase, 5000m & 10000m from the program. Now these terrible TV stations like NBC can spend 15-20 showing the heats of the 100M with all the false starts.
Great to see Coburn making a principled stand. I hope she has some great US steeple and other events to contest before the Olympics.
Coburn is now boycotting the 2020 Olympics due to gender controversies.
Where else can she run steeples? If she doesn't run steeples, what will she run?
She just never seemed to finish fast in the flats to be successful.
Maybe she's switching to Mud Runs?

I agree with this, but not competing and making them weaker is not the answer.

That's all they've ever done anyway, which is why I never watch NBC sports.

Money talks, period. Performance won't change WA's or DL's mind, losing tv revenue from plummeting ratings and loss of advertisers will. A mass boycott by athletes might accomplish that, too. I'm sorry but Emma benefits from the DL far more than the DL benefits from Emma.
