What is the purpose of this workout if the recovery phase is not active? 5:20 is pretty easy for athletes of this caliber.

5.20 was the first & slowest rep of 4. Not to mention they did 3x(800,400,400) after & all at altitude.

The NCAA adjustment for Springs is -10 sec/mile. A solid workout for runners at the 31-32 10K fitness level.
Am I the only ones who cringe when I read "Bowerman babes". I hate how Americans like to call regular things with weird nicknames like " BOYS" /"BABES"/ " HIT HARD" when you just mean it tastes good....

Dang. It. Stupid less than symbol messed up my post. Anyway, the first part of that workout just induces some fatigue, the 400s/800s are the meat of the workout.
