So how old is he? What is it... 7 years later and he still breaks 1:42.
7 years later and he is still slower than at 18.

Snell ran 1:44.3 in 1962 on a grass track.
Given that the track at Monaco must be at least a second a lap quicker, we haven't moved forward that much in 57 years have we?
1:44.3 - 2 = 1:42.3, not 1:41.89
And Snell always said that grass track was super fast.
I have raced on grass tracks and for 400m-Mile that's my favorite surface.
When you take into account the difference in the spikes they where, too, his point is well taken.
But even without that- what place would 1:42.3 (1:42.54) have taken in Monaco?
Good point about not progressing much. A lot of it is technology not as much human performance.

What is the difficulty in understanding that in Third World countries where even birth registration isn't universal, that there exists widely documented and confirmed age cheating, and that this would be close to impossible in a country like Norway?
That's the problem- if they ARE age cheating it's only by a year or two. They often don't have documentation, but I don't need my birth certificate to know how old I am.

Botswana is not one of those countries.

You are wasting your time telling a racist that.
He believes that Africa is a country, and a shithole country at that.
They do have a standard test they do at all the diamond league tracks for how much energy it returns. If Monaco is superior, beyond merely that it pays more for athletes and pacers and that it usually comes near peaking time with perfect weather, why was Lausanne faster in the 1500m this year? Same guys, a week later and Cheruiyot was 1.5 s slower and several others were. Farah was faster than Coe, but Coe surely would have run faster not because of the track necessarily but because he would have had much faster guys to draft off, if he wasn't doing his usual strategy of running toward the outside of lane one in case there was a breakaway. Coe once went out around 1:49.4. Could he have following Cheruiyot to 3:28 at Lausanne?
That the IAAF is headquartered in that tax shelter of a "country" says about all you need to know about it.
Ovett would certainly have run faster than 3:30.77 if he had drafting the whole way to 3:28-29-30 in one of these Monaco races or in last week's Lausanne race.

Anyone who follows the sport knows that's not uncommon.

Go spend some time in the East African cities there, and get back with us.

QED
Botswana is very far from East Africa
Another geographically challenged american.
And yes, since you are asking about this 'country' called Africa, I did live somewhere in Africa for many many years and recently spent quite a bit of time in Zambia (look that up)

Another white sub-elite runner who has spent a lot of time in Africa and who thinks I'm a racist for calling out doping in Africa.
I'm beginning to detect a pattern here.

Yes, the pattern is that you know nothing about pro T&F and call out those who do.

Ignoramus, no you have it wrong again.
The racism that is detected is through your focus on Africans, when you have shown through your racist remark about third world countries, that in fact you have little idea of this 'country' called Africa.
Your handle indicates a lack of impartiality, a belief I suppose that the last clean people were the British of the 80's. What a joke.
There is no 'pattern'.... attack all the drug cheats then most will be on your side.
And, oh, by the way , I was possibly 'sub elite' once...but can't remember if I was ever white....may have to check my non issued birth certificate ;-)

Yes this is the pattern.
Coevett knows nothing about athletics at a club, sub-elite or elite level which he makes abundantly clear in every post (has even admitted he's never competed or coached and came to the sport as an old man)
That is why i grew tired of arguing with him. It's fine to not know. It's idiotic to try and talk like you know when it's abundantly clear you don't. Be humble.
MJ was just a couple weeks shy of 32 when he set 400m World Record. Why couldn't an 800m specialist also PR or threaten WR from age 26-30? There are always outliers. Symmonds was 28 when he set his PR. I think Amos can come close, possibly get the WR this year or next, but needs a slightly more efficient race- no need to go out quite that hard over the first 300m.

There is a range within which all tracks's energy returns must lie. So, some are 'tuned' to benefit sprints and others to benefit distance, and those events in between. Therefore certain tracks seem to produce faster times in the middle distances; e.g. Monaco. I've also read that the back straight in Monaco is protected from the wind!? Regardless, the mondo tracks of the Diamond League are all faster than the synthetic tracks of the late 70's/early 80's, and some mondo tracks will be faster than others for different events. I seem to recall the Atlanta track for the 96 Olympics was found to be beneficial for sprint events and the distance guys found the hard surface rather unforgiving. The idea that all tracks are the same is not true.
I don't think Monaco this year comes anywhere near peaking time, what with the Worlds in October! Most years it comes about 4 weeks before a major champs, which seems a bit early to be at a peak IMO.
Coe went through 800m in 1:49.1, not 1:49.4. And he reached 800m in 1:49.1 after passing 400m in 52.4! He was already too far behind the rabbit, Robinson, by 300m, to get any drafting and was practically drafted for just 150m of the race (100m to 250m). Robinson passed 400m in 51.5! and dropped out (a good 15m in front of Coe) by 800m.
Cheruiyot reached 800m in Lausanne in 1:49.8, but that was after passing 400m in 54.3. In ther same race J. Ingebrigsten passed 400m in 55.9 and 800m in 1:53.1.
Ingebrigsten ran fairly economical laps in his 3:30.16 (55.9, 57.2, 55.9, 41.1)
Cheruiyot went out a bit fast to 400m, and ran laps of 54.3 and 55.5; but still good pace for someone looking to run 3:28.
Coe's first 2 laps of 52.4 & 56.7 was suicidal and it's amazing he hung on for a 3:31 running on his own for practically the whole race.

Not quite. I was referring to the cities that I'd had experience with over the last 25 years, as well as being married to an Eritrean. Further, I'm not an American citizen, nor would I want to be.

Well, then you ought to know where Botswana or South Africa is
