It's not Montgomey's fault the other 3 runners didn't hear the false start. He either deserved a DQ or didn't, but the other 3 runners not knowing about the false start is a separate issue that isn't his problem.

Not many. From what I’ve seen in the past it’s based on who performed well enough at NCAA Champs to be competitive on the professional circuit. Usually these athletes are looking to maintain momentum throughout the USA

Teahna Daniels has run sub 11 this year. She is coached by Edrick Floreal who also coaches Jenna Prandini, Keni Harrison, and Kori Carter who were all present at the meet. I think that also played a part.

Yeah I now see that. The IAAF should definitely have a more standard protocol for their events. What do you think?

The false start gun/sound was impossible to miss. Maybe they didn't realise that was what it meant.

If just one runner missed the false start it might be valid to say it was impossible to miss. But what are the chances that 3 runners don't hear it or don't know what it meant?

There was obviously an issue and if they were going to restart the race anyway why not re-run it at the end of the meet?

Amazed meet officials did not step onto the track to stop them. Had plenty of time.

Montgomery was DQd. It's in the final results. I presume he ran under the protest provision. Maybe it affected his motivation because he was out of it from the beginning and didn't break 46.

Got everyone riled up though. There should be a flag for the officials to wave when an athlete is running under protest.

It would be nice if his coach/agent can somehow get the splits or even the final time. It is quite possible that the system was still running.

Maybe a kind and smart Letsrunner can find it for him?

Were you there? If not, how and why would you say it was NOT impossible to miss.

Obviously you are talking out of your own butthole, since half of a Diamond League field continued the race. The fact that it was the four runners furthest from the alarm shows that it wasn't loud enough to be heard.

It is also obvious that the officials are supposed to refire the gun if needed to recall the race. This is usually done if the gun was fired along with the false start, to recall the start. (If someone jumps and triggers the alarm or a whistle/"stand-up", the gun doesn't need to be fired for a recall.

The officials SHOW that they knew it had to be fired, but they didn't fire it until the three guys were over 100m in, and then only once.

Contrast that with the women's 100h, in which the false start gun was fired multiple times.

Pathetic that the IAAF now has the video of Jones on YouTube, where it is 10x more popular than any other race in the meet (including the actual full 400).
