And they are talking about being dominant in Bolt's absence? Please.
Now it's 20.24 as "Mitchell-Blake improved by 0.01 a mark which had been set by John Regis in 1987 to finish narrowly ahead of Adam Gemili, who ran 20.26, and Leon Reid, who clocked 20.31."
In other news, Chris O'Hare won the 1500 as Scots went 1-2-3 and NCAA decathlon champ Tim Duckworth won the LJ with a 8,00 m jump.

How in the world is this possible? Before today, the British champs 200m record was just 20.25. Now it's 20.24

I'll tell you how. Cause they are a third-rate sprint nation.
A white girl won the women's 200 today. When is the last time a white woman won a US sprint title?

Always very windy in Birmingham. Often rains. The swirling winds today were unbelievable.
Mitchell-Blake and Gemili have both run under 20. Mitchell-Blake recently gave Lyles a very good run for his money over 150m
To the poster that said 'third rate', World Champs 2017 4x100m GOLD.
Zharnel Huges ran 9.91 very recently, Reece Prescod won some diamond leagues and beat Huges last year. UK will still be one of the nation's to beat at the 4x100 next year. -
*beat Huges yesterday, not last year.
-
Usually very cold (sub-20 C) and rainy in Britain - like Oregon only worse. Not great for sprinters.
-
Will also add that Zharnel Huges who ran 9.91 recently came 2nd in the 100m in 10.13. That maybe tells you something about the conditions.

Looks like this third-rate sprint nation was good enough to win medals in every sprint relay last year at worlds, including gold in the 4x1.
And yes, Prandini won the US title this year in the 200. She ALSO won it in 2015! -
In a word - Lack Of Drugs.
British Sport is completely clean. Just today Froome quite rightly cleared of any wrong doing. Then you've got the untouchable, yet clean, Sir Mo Farah. Further back, the wonderful Dame Paula Radcliffe.
The Brits are simply the most honourable sports men / women on the planet. In that context, 20:24 seems quite correct. A legitimate best humanly possible time for running 200m. Everyone going faster is obviously a cheat. -
Obviously. The media is just out to make Mo and Paula look bad, but they are just victims. Mo's training in Kenya is completely on the up and up and Paula's blood was just doing some weird stuff, but normal kind of weird
-
Why is this so unbelievable? It's rare that conditions are ideal for world class sprinting in the UK. Also, for a long time the UK Champs (not the AAA Champs) were held ver early in the season, well before the best sprinters were peaking.
The British record for 200m is 19.87A set by John Regis back in '94. The non-altitude record is 19.94, also by Regis. -

I've not heard anyone say British athletes see going to take over from Bolt.
Track I'd obviously slow as Regis did sub 20 as have these guys.
Looks like our long jumper managed to get her hands in some good gear on her American college years. Of course there are no rojds on campus and your new to make sprinter must be a natural talent unlike Gay, Gatlin, Jones, White and the multiple number of other roided up sprint stars you've produced over the past couple of decades! -

There’s only two, brah - 4x1 and 4x4. Don’t play it off like there’s a 4x2 and a 4x110h too. -
Except last weekend it was very hot all over the UK - at least 80 degrees in Birmingham. Bit windy though - and no consistent direction to the wind.

Men - 4x100m gold, 4x400m bronze
Women - 4x100m silver, 4x400m silver
That clearer for you? -

Answer: Obvioulsy, Mitchell-Blake ran .01s faster than 20.25s. That's how it is possible.
Simple math.... -

The conditions weren't consistent at all and sometimes were awful for sprinting. Evident in the 100m results where a 9.91 man managed 10.13.
The winds were swirling and unbelievably strong at times -
Sometimes the conditions or location means times are not a good gauge of the standards.
John Regis has been mentioned. He ran 20.18 for 3rd in the World Champs. Not all sprints have fast times to win a medal.
