Yes....he did Eritrea proud! Well done Meb. You are one of Eritrea's greatest runners.

Meb is a washed up scrub who runs in shape ups. He won one race in a watered down field.
Meb is one of the most profound inspirations that helped get me back into running distance. I was down on my luck, cycling through bad health and bad relationships, and then I somehow stumbled upon some articles about a book title, "Meb for mortals." I kept reading, kept digging deeper into this guy's amazing story and before I knew it, his words had convinced me to get up and get back on track. I hope he is showered with blessing, good health, and happiness because he so readily and candidly shares his strength with others.
Dude...take a hike..

Not a Meb fan but nice career congrats to him.
"Not a Med fan" what does that even mean?

Didn't he move to the U.S. at age 12?
As in 30 years ago?

would be cool if this thread turns into a multi-page recollection of great Meb stories- he deserves it in spades.

Yes, 18 years before "Yeah right" was born.

I believe it’s a real testament to the quality of runners such as Meb, Ryan, Desi, DT,....that after even just one brief encounter with them, we become life long fans.

I don’t understand the need to retire from something that can be done at anytime. Ok stop training like a nut and just run while slowly falling back into the pack...this isn’t the NBA or MLB. There’s no such thing as retiring from running, walking, sleeping, or eating.
No one is talking about Meb retiring from running. He's simply ending his WMM competitive racing career, and I have a feeling that Shalane will be next to make such a decision.
I miss Meb already ):
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
