Order will be:
Jared
Shadrack
Abdi
Meb
I like Meb but it will be clear after this race that it's time for him to retire.

Everyone constantly overlooking The Black Cactus - not sure how he's not the odds on favorite for top American? Don't be surprised if he's on the podium again after half of the Africans drop out..
Michael Wardian FOR THE WIN!!!!!

Unfortunately, I don't think Meb is in great shape, Jared is going to be too preoccupied with fitting regression models and Shadrack is probably overworked from selling shoes and running 180 mile weeks under Hudson. Abdi all the way, baby!
Definitely Jared Ward. Ward has a chip on his shoulder from losing to Abdi and Biwott at Boston. He’s looking really good and has solid training.
Somehow it will be Meb. Because it’s Meb and he’s ageless.
If it's Meb, then the other three should do pushups at the finish line.
Our international men's preview is out. We've narrowed down the potential winners to 5.
Which of the following 5 men will win NY on Sunday - Wilson Kipsang, Ghirmay Ghebreslassie, Lelisa Desisa, Lemi Berhanu, or Geoffrey Kamworor? Tell us below and vote in our poll.
PS. I'm turning this into the official thread.
Jared Ward better be first American. Two of the other three contenders are 40+ years old, and the other hasn't shown any particular skill at the marathon. To PR in the Olympics in warm humid weather is studly. I think he can PR again at NYC.
Ward: 2:10:45
Biwott: 2:11:30
Meb: 2:16:20
Abdi: DNF
Kipsang wins in 2:06:45 with huge negative split.
gonna have to go with MEB on this one. He has the most experience of anyone, and knows how to take control of a race, and seeing as how he will have the crowd on his side, I see him going out with an excellent race.
I liken him to a master carpenter, who at 60 years old can secure a header beam in a house by himself, while two 30 year old carpenters can't. Its called old-man strength and experience. MEB has it.
It would be totally amazing to see Meb win this thing.
Kamrowor is going to destroy this field.
How is no one calling Abdi as first American? He was third male last year. Did he have a setback or something I have not heard of?

lol, no
I don't think Meb is very fit and he is just using this as his farewell race, which he's earned the right to do.
Hard to say between the other three. I'd guess Abdi if he actually is healthy and finishes and if not Jared.

Yes, a setback known as hitting age 40. It tends to hinder performance.
It will be a new American citizen none of you have heard of. Just wait and see.
Definitely Jared Ward. After his breakout race at the Olympics, I've been waiting on him to have another strong race, and he's the most accomplished runner present besides Old Man Keflezighi. I'm calling it right now. Ward for the win and silver will go to Biwott. Meb will prove that his prime has passed him by and he'll get 5th.

He's already said that his prime is behind him. did you read the article by Tim Layton?
