Gladwell doesn't get enough attention?
He gets smoked by LeBron
LBJ is 6'8", 250lbs.
What's the fastest anyone 250 has run a mile, ever?

Paul McMullen ran Sub 4 at 250.

You're a fool if you don't realize that ANY super-elite male athlete can break 6 easily. There's a decent chance Lebron could go sub 5. Plenty of college basketball stars have been known to.
It's possible I dreamt it, but I think Michael Jordan once said in an interview that he knew he was getting in shape when he could run a mile in 4:30. In any case, people who don't think Lebron could break six in the mile are grossly underestimating the amount of endurance that is required for a ball handler in basketball. With even pacing Lebron goes sub-5 which beats Gladwell.
A more interesting race would be Lebron vs Bolt in the mile.

From what i can find... dude was 6'2" and 165-180... still smaller than Steph Curry, who looks like a little kid next to Bron. Although talking sub 4, that is pretty awesome.
Ever stood next to someone 6'8" 250? Massive. He would look hilarious in a track kit next to slim oldman Gladwell. I wish races, like Wanamaker Mile, had height/weight stats along with names in the list of results. Would be interesting to find the fastest person by BMI.
We always do this. How fast could a pro athlete in a different sport run a mile?
I don't think Lebron would crack 5:00 just like I think most other pro athletes wouldn't be able to- except maybe with a few months of training. But today? Nope. Malcolm wins easy.
NYRR should set this up for 5th ave.

Too bad it would never happen. LeBron wouldn't have any teammates he could blame when he lost.

That's a fun article. Claims his Celtics teammate was "a little bit faster" than him. They reference a 5 mile race that he ran 33 mid 2 days before scoring 60 points in a game.
Was not Ronnie Coleman's best treadmill mile, around 4.16?
