If you make sure to get a bit of food in your stomach after the run, you can drink up to 18...might even want to add a couple shots of Tequila with salt in there as well.
Alcohol destroys the mind and the body. Have a nice cool tall glass of Gatorade.

you are a big loser.
But, just like most elite athletes I bet he is faster than you.
Post race hydration is an art form best done in conjunction with Utz Salt and Pepper Potato Chip unless of course you can get Charles Chips plain from the Philly area> and O.B. Korean Beer. The French Marathon Drinking Team swear by Jenleian French Country Ale(only in the 750ml cork top bottle)
Oh for some Tsing Ha, some Burgie, some OM...
And speaking of chips, some Salt and Vinegar would be fine.
Oh it's beer beer beer
that makes me want to cheer
Actually, it's high fructose corn syrup that is destroying the mind and body.

well, if he has run under 14:15, then yes...good for him. I bet it has earned him lots of money and fame. and his nights at home with a nice gatorade and a movie have made him very cool, too.
ps. i know some of your so called "elite" athletes (sub-4, sub-13:40, sub-28:30), and let me tell you--they can drink!
I am a non-discriminating drinker...I don't care what the other guy can run. I will knock back a Lite faster than he can. I respect his speed, he respects my speed.
I can do the 1,2,3,4 beer chug. I don't claim to be world class (the Man Show beer guy) but I can put three down in 11.78. That's faster than I can run the hundred. It's important to know your areas of strength, mine is chugging or shotgunning.
Is this everybody's first year running? I think we all know that 1 mile = 1 beer. How many times must I tell you?
Hell, I not a hook and release guy when it comes to beer. I don't throw any back, I drink them all.

Toshihiko Seko, bad-ass Japanese distance runner, and faster than anyone who frequents this board, used to have an interesting training regimen.
After a hard workout, he would have a beer.
After a very hard workout, he would have 8-10.
But, I assume you are referring to American "elites"?
Oh god, here we go again. Same topic on another thread about how Americans suck at everything except imperialism.
For those who poo-poo beer consumption after running, how about beer during running? Beer mile, anyone?
To the rest of the contributors, I would recommend going to Bob Dobb's in Tucson, AZ after your workout/run for a plate of cheese fries with a side of jalapenos and a side of ranch along with whatever amount of beer helps you forget about life for a while.
