I was too young at the time. What's your excuse?
Operation frequent wind... Hehehe
I was a couple of years too young but I wouldn't have gone anyway.
Killing is against the Will of the Gods.
Some of us were busy fighting against the US during the Vietnam war.
My country called, I answered and I served. Some protesters legitimately were conscientious objectors, most were just cowards rationalizing their cowardice.

During the Fall of Saigon the tanks rolled into the city and smashed down the big iron gates of the Palace.
When I lived there in 2005 they had a huge race sponsored by Samsung. At this time they never had open races or fun runs, so I was excited to race. They got all the runners on the inside of the Unification Palace grounds and wanted to open the gates for a big effect. The race had free entry and came with a shirt. I'm guessing there were 4000 runners and walkers.
They started the race with a mass of little kids and a lot of dudes that appeared to be soccer players sprinting like mad for about 400 meters. I took the lead after a half mile with an escort of 5 police motor cycles and running about 5:15 pace. I started to gap the next runner and the police man on the motor bike motioned for me to slow down. This really pissed me off and I motioned for him that he could go back and stay with the other runners. They did not really have any streets closed. They just expected the pack to make their way with the police motor bikes following along stopping traffic.
We looped around for about a total of 3K and with 400 Meters to finish another runner came up on me that I suspect just jumped in. It became a shoulder to should sprint with cars randomly crossing in front of us. they had at least 3 finish arches with Samsung logos, so I just kept running through all of them. After finishing and winning I was told that the race had no prize and was not timed. Before I ran a friend had told me that there were all kinds of prizes for placing.
The race just turned out to be a big photo shoot for Samsung
I hear Saigon is lovely in the fall.

What did you do in the war Daddy? It's likely less than 30% of all who served there ever saw combat of any sort during their war, according to the U.S. gummint. Yet ever town has a group of Buddha bellied bozos with their Vietnam caps complaining they dont' get what they're owed, (even though in reality most likely served stateside, and one I Know was a postal clerk in new Jersey for his two-year hitch). Still, he carries on like he led the charge in combat..
Around 5% of the Americans who were in Vietnam were ever in danger and saw any action.

Yet another example of the failure of Americas worst generation (aka the Boomers, aka the Entitlement Generation).

I was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal (and the several others that usually went with it) and five campaign service stars for my time with MACV SOG. I did some LRRP and some FAC duty. It was difficult and stressful work. I was lucky enough to come back alive and in one piece, if a bit tightly wound for a year or so afterward. I remain proud of my service and disappointed with the Democratic politicians who did a bad job of getting us into the war and the Republican politicians who did a bad job of getting us out of the war. Finally, I am not some "Buddha bellied bozo." I am the same 5'8" and 130lbs as when I went into the service 40+ years ago and fitter than most 30 year olds based on my current race results.
I am a consistent douche on this message board.
I have been and will continue as I was for decades.
On behalf of 95% of LRC: I wasn't even born yet.
Yes, it was really tragic how nobody would defend America. We wouldn't have been conquered if we had held the line in Saigon. Oh wait...
"It's over Johnny. It's over." (see Rambo part one, Richard Crenna to Stallone quote. (As in, time to move on, sport, that was 51 years ago. )
Maybe you can get some good weed for free over at the VA hospital and mellow out. . Also, no one knows what any of those acronyms you use mean.
