I'm a big of G.Mutai but it has been obvious for a couple of years that he is done.
*a big fan of
I'm really bummed about this/ G. Mutai is my favorite marathoner and I keep hoping he will have a redemption race. I guess it's getting less and less likely.

I don't think we can 100% say he's finished. He was 5th in Berlin last year and 6th in NY and London the year before that. He's 34. Look at Meb.
Are his days of being dominant over? Yes. But at a major there are generally only 4-6 guys really capable of winning. If a few are hurt, have a bad day, then you are in the hunt.
I agree and think/hope he can potentially still run well on courses like Boston and NYC.
Father Time is undefeated :)

Me too, and I think his real age is likely older than 34

definitely a strong possibility
In other news, only 4 sub-elite runners are from the USA currently in the elite field. Bleh. I'll bet no American runners finish in the top 10 for either gender.
Father time is undefeated
This is not good, he needed this race in order to make the olys for Kenya.
Bad news, gained a new appreciation for the man after reading Ed Ceasar's book.
Expect to see him in Ottawa soon.
