Well, it seems Mo is back to his usual antics of seeking slow races without competition so he can relax before kicking it in for the win.
Seriously, are we supposed to be impressed by Doha's line up?
Gebrhiwet, Alamirew, Koech, Longosiwa, Ndiku, Rop; who are these nobodies?
When are we going to start getting the races we deserve?
Farah back to dodging competition

Turn on your all-purpose detector. -
Dude, it's DOHA. The throwaway season opener. It's a no pressure tune-up meet, and it doesn't matter who's there.
Let's see Mo race a DL distance in Rome, Zurich or Berlin, then he'll be out there competing. -

Your sarcasm is detected and approved. Damn. Sub 12:50 right out of the chute? -

Are you saying that Farah is dodging competition except when he´s not? -
He is saying Mo rakes in the cash (Mo'ney) running races he thinks he can win. He competes as little as possible. The end result is: Mo Money.

The Doha Field is amazing and the author is being sarcastic. Props to Mo for stepping up his racing this year and taking on the best.

OP I appreciated your sarcasm.
Anyone who doesn't catch it probably doesn't know those names you listed.
Anyone who doesn't know those names you listed needs to spend more time on the LetsRun homepage. -

came here expecting an april fools joke. can honestly say i'm very surprised

It's in one of the richest countries in the World, and one where people rather don their Porsche than running shoes, so Nike's sending him there for PR reasons methinks. Go Mo!

But the sarcasm is ill-founded since it's Doha. The best may be there but they're not AT their best. -

Farah has no more reason to be at his best than they do to be at theirs. They're all focused on the same meet at the end of the year in Beijing so hypothetically they should all be be at similar points in their training cycle. Farah has no advantage compared to them.
Trust me, I'm usually not the first to step in and defend Mo Farah and I'm pretty harsh when it comes to people dodging the competition, but I have to give Farah props for what he's done lately. He went for a WR, he faced a stacked field in the Lisbon Half and now he's in the middle of an incredible field in an early season meet in Doha. I'm sure he'll also be racing everyone when they're "at their best" at Worlds this summer. What else do you want from him?
Now if he'd just do World XC... -

If that was a general argument for sports there'd be no reason for neither fans och players to care about the early months of the NBA, NHL, NFA etc.
Diamond League points counts the same for all meets over the season, well, except the last and final, but no-one has ever won the DL for his/her event without picking up at least some points somewhere earlier in the season.
And as for being at their best early, almost every year there has been a break through guy making his mark in the first meets, and with the africans not generally having the financial back-up of Mo and other Nike athlets, i.e for which the DL money is important in a way it isn't to him, I can assure you there's gonna be guys there who really ARE at their best.
Whether or not they can maintain that best over the whole season is a completely different question. Gebrhiwot break through early season world class dominance and late season championship fading two years ago easily comes to mind... -

You might want to go check where many of these guys set their 3000 PRs, some of which are in the 7:20s. -

How can you type "he has no more reason to be at his best than they do" right now and then in the same post cite such a reason? He just went for the 2 mile world record! No one else was preparing for a record attempt at this distance except for him, right? He is in prime 2-mile and 3000 shape right now. How is that not an advantage?
Did he really face anyone in that half? Didn't they drop him at some point? Facing would be to stick with the front runners and actually race. Not sticking back and running your own race. Run the race that every one else is running.
His racing lately has been way better than it has been for the past few years. I hope he keeps it up and doesn't revert back to dodging and kicking. -

Ever heard of peaking. Unlike NHL etc the general public do not give a toss about Diamond League. The track prog. is so watered down I don't really give a toss about it either. The Worlds is where they will be watching and what earns him is money dependent on winning. Its the whole title race in one race
