Whether the story of Hall telling the other Americans to not push the pace is true or not doesn't matter. But it is true that if they would have pushed the pace the East Africans would have followed and almost certainly caught Meb.

It's gutsy to go out in 2:10-2:11 pace and run away from the field and when other guys start to push to catch you they slow down because Ryan Hall told them to slow up?
The whole story is incredulous. I'm amazed runners are buying it as this cookie cutter uplifting tale of heroics and guts.
