I'm not saying he has a chance, but lets visit dream land for a minute and imagine that Ryan Hall won Boston this year.
We all know letsrun would crash for at least 24 hours, but how much would the non-running world care?

that would be amazing. Sadly, the east Africans have a genetic advantage such that no matter how hard someone like Hall worked, the likelihood of a win would be slim. Although lots of things can happen in a marathon. I'd take Hall for the win if their were a snow storm.
Hell would freeze over
It would mean that the lead Africans went off-course for at least 2km.
A 1/3 of letsrun would be ecstatic, a 1/3 would say it was a weak field, and a 1/3 would claim Hall was doping.
I would be born again.
Letsrun would implode, think black hole.
It would make every national news broadcast and might even get Hall some ESPN time.
As for the non-running crowd caring? Depends on how one defines "caring". Lots of amazing things happen in sports that I care little about.
I liked the comment about getting coaching from God. Unlike most coaches HE has an infinite amount of time so he could take on as many runners as he wants, but I think he is too busy helping football players score touchdowns. Maybe it could be an off season thing for him.
"Sadly, the east Africans have a genetic advantage such that no matter how hard someone like Hall worked, the likelihood of a win would be slim"This is exactly why American distance running is in the toilet. "We'll never win, so why bother."Nevermind the fact that multiple studies have continually failed to find a genetic advantage...idiots like you keep trotting it out.Ryan Hall's problem is he is a product of AMERICA. He does not have the mental fortitude that East Africans have and is a mental weakling.

He would become even more popular on Letsrun than Jordan Hasay.
if ryan wins he'll get a black front page on letsrun for sure
and way more people here will start hating him

That's pretty unfair, way more than 1/3 would claim he was doping.
He's been in dreamland his whole life, and he still can't win.

You're giving this place too much credit. A lot more people would claim it was a weak field AND he was doping.

If you call working hard a genetic advantage then yes the Africans do. They found the proper way to train for a marathon and I guess its working. just because we don't know how they do it dosent mean they have a genetic advantage

genetically ryan hall is far superior to MOST (but not all africans) in running.
"He is the only athlete I have ever seen injury themselves while tappering. "
A friend of mine hurt his hammy tappering the ol' lady on a trail run. So Hall's not the only one.
No race is a time trial. The africans losing would be as much a story as Hall winning.
Hall winning.
Wont happen. No history of winning big races against equal or better peers.
I'd be a wee bit surprised.
